Maya's POV:

It was one of those nights when I couldn't sleep again. I wasn't sad. I wasn't happy either. I couldn't feel a thing. It was a weird feeling, it was almost as if I were hollow inside.

I wasn't hungry. I wasn't sleepy. I wasn't really anything. I laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling and not knowing what to do.

I could go for a walk. I could watch tv. I could listen to music. I watched as I didn't even move a muscle. I just continued to stare at the ceiling. What's wrong with me?

The question swirled around through my mind. I didn't have an answer. I didn't even have a clue. Is this normal?

My eyes burned from how long I haven't blinked. I should probably check what time it is. Not a single movement.

I completely gave up on trying to get up. I continued to stare at the ceiling until I heard a loud knock.

I quickly jumped up, startled. Hey, at least I got up. I checked the window, nothing. That's weird.

I laid back down, only to hear the knock again. I checked the window, but still nothing. I grew frustrated and laid back down closer to Riley.

The knock came back once again, this time louder than ever. I almost felt heart stop. I checked the window once again, I even opened it. Nothing, not a single person or object in sight. I closed the window furiously and laid back down on the bed. I hugged Riley tightly and shut my eyes, trying to go to sleep.

I just kept hearing the knock. I was going to go insane. Am I hearing things or is someone trying to mess with me?

I plugged in my headphones and turned up my music as loud as possible. I could no longer hear it.
