Mirabel's PoV;

I came to visit Antonio's new room the next night. He requested a story from me to share with. Mirabel Madrigal is my name. I was the only Madrigal who haven't got a gift. It was ten years ago.

I got escorted by a leopard. I believed Antonio was expecting me. And I was right. I don't know where Jose was taking me. First, the leopard ushers me to the top of a tree. Then, Jose glances down from the treetop. I followed its gaze. It's a mistake for me. I shivered after looking down. I don't even know where am I glancing at. Until I heard a my primo's voice (cousin).

"Mirabel! Over here!"

Antonio called on me from below. For what I did not expect, he was lying around in his large red hammock. Antonio seemed happy. He has friends of toucans, capybaras and lemurs surrounding him. That made me smile sweetly. Of course, this new solution I got myself into visiting puzzles me.

"Hey, Antonio!" I called to him. I was unsure. "How do I get down to where you're at?" I asked.

He gestures me out to another of his friend. "Try riding on Manuel, Mirabel." Antonio added, encouraging me. "He won't bite." Antonio replied.

I survey one tree branch near me. I just realized what my cousin meant for Manuel. Antonio was referring to the boa constrictor. Manuel looks at me and made a confident hiss. I don't know what to expect at first. I'm not good with snakes. My cousin encourages me again. "He says it's okay. Manuel won't drop you." Antonio uttered.

The boa constrictor offered me his opened loop. I cautiously climbed down on Manuel's coils. My spine shivers while gripping the boa constrictor. I was hanging around on a living vine. And then, Manuel drops his head to the large red hammock. I have no idea where he's going. And suddenly, I was sliding down fast. Manuel got me off guard. Finally, I landed on the large red hammock right by my cousin. Antonio was laughing with me.

I raised my eyebrow at him. "Does your friend, Manuel, brought you here before me?" I inquired.

He looked happy. "Yes, it's not that hard." Antonio added. "I was having a great time meeting new friends today." He mentioned.

It makes me glad to see my cousin smiling for his gift last night. I became contented. "Good for you, Antonio." I said.

"So you're going to tell me a story of how you met Tio Bruno, Mirabel?" He asks me.

"I am definitely will, Antonio." I answered.

"The leopard and the toucan knows you." Antonio mentions.

"Yes they do." I believed him.

"So how did you met Tio Bruno?" He inquires.

"Actually, Antonio...It's how my Tio Bruno met me." I replied honestly.

He watches me when I speak about Tio Bruno. I told Antonio from the night I didn't get a gift.

"When I was your age, I couldn't wait to get a gift from my new door. And as I touched the doorknob, the door itself vanished. I don't know why I didn't get a gift." I said awkwardly.

"What happened next?" He wonders.

"Well, Antonio..." I added, solemnly. "My whole family was disappointed that I have no gift. My mama and papa gives me love. Tio Felix and Tia Pepa comforted me. Isabela and Dolores didn't say anything to me. Luisa felt sorry for me. Emotionally. Camilo tries to cheer me up. His papa called on him. And Abuela...the only person who told me that I am special just like my family...She hasn't say anything to me until the next day..." I aforesaid (uncle and aunt).

"What did Abuela say after your ceremony night?" He asks pitifully.

"She says I should step aside. When I begged her to be with my family, Abuela tells me that I had better off staying in the casita. I still want to be with my family." I replied.
