The day had started off rather pleasant, yet it took a bad turn in the afternoon. One moment the sky was bright blue. The puffy, pure white clouds floating harmlessly to create a quite calm and comfortable setting; the next moment the sky turned a muddy grayish-blue and gray clouds rolled in from seemingly nowhere. Thunder broke apart the harmony of chirping birds and people quickened their pace in order to avoid the advancing clouds that brought with them the promise of rain.

Well didn't I pick just the dandiest time to go for a walk. Jake sighed out loud at his thoughts. A nice walk seemed like the perfect choice of activity when he had set out. It wasn't such a great idea now, especially since he had no umbrella (not even a hooded jacket for that matter) and it would surely start raining before he made it home.

No point in fussing over it now. He turned the corner to take the adjacent street back to his home, but he would be walking for much longer then the length of the street. His house was quite a walk away from the town. He liked it that way though, since it was full of adventures, and kept away from most others. Jake wasn't exactly the most social person.

Just as he turned the corner and began walking down the street, Jake was suddenly pulled into an alleyway hidden within the shadows between two buildings. He was held up against the wall by someone unknown to him. Probably someone who lived in the town; and he hardly interacted with anyone from the town. He couldn't tell you the names of anyone besides the librarian, (yes, in addition to being a recluse he was also a bookworm, the two tend to go together) they both seemed to find books better company than real people.

"Okay, I'm going to say this one time, hand over all your money or I'll take it by force!"

"...You are rather blunt, aren't you?"

The next second the guy's fist connected with his face, and the left lens of his glasses was shattered. A bit of glass cut right beneath his eye, barely missing it. "I don't have any money you blasted moron! I was walking and I didn't bring anything with me!"

"Yeah, right! Like I'm dumb enough to believe that. Now hand it over!" The guy readied another punch, and it sent a brutal wave of pain through Jake's jaw and skull when it forced his head back into the brick wall. The man didn't hesitant with knee to the gut, and as Jake doubled over, the guy slammed him back into the wall, his fingers wrapping around Jake's neck.

"Please... Stop... This..." Jake's words were forced out, and no sooner had he spoken them the man's grip released him, which left Jake to fall to the ground, gasping for air. He was coughing and desperately trying to pull air into his lungs, yet he looked up to see what caused the man the stop.

There stood a guy just a bit taller than Jake and the man, with spiky platinum blond hair and oddly shaped sunglasses covering his eyes. He wore a black tank top and black pants with dirtied orange shoes. Black fingerless gloves covered his hands, which were currently gripping the man's shirt and beating the shit out of him. Jake couldn't completely see what was happening due to his partially broken glasses, but he could tell the man who had attacked him was now begging for mercy from this newcomer.

Suddenly, the blond's grip on the guy released. "Don't ever do anything like this again or I will find you and I will make sure you won't be able to walk afterwards." The guy nodded hastily and ran off within seconds.

The newcomer turned his attention to Jake, who just now realized he had been staring. Yet he didn't look away (also, due to his seclusion, he didn't know it was usually considered rude to stare). The guy walked over and held out a gloved hand to help him up, which Jake gingerly took and stood.
