> Have a sleepover with your new friend
Dirk Strider
> Begin [Chapter 2 | Act 1]
___"Thanks for letting me sleep over." I smiled as Johanna put some blankets and pillows down on the couch for us.
"No problem honey! I don't want you getting hurt driving home in this weather." She put down a plate of cookies and a bowl of chips on the table. "You two can just hang out down here and I'll have Jade and Jane stay upstairs so they don't bother you." She left the room, so it was just me and Jake.
Then I realized something. "Oh dammit! I need to call my bro before he starts worrying about me not coming home." I took out my phone and dialed his number, offering a quick apologetic smile to Jake, who nodded and looked through Netflix to find a movie to watch.
The phone only ringed twice before he picked up. "Dirk? Where are you? Is everything okay?"
"I'm fine. Sorry to worry you Dave. I forgot to call, but I'm at a friend's house."
"You just forgot? Dude I was so fucking worried about you! Way to be an ass!"
I moved the phone to my other hand, sighing. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. But I was distracted and it just slipped my mind." I paused near the window, outside the rain was still relentlessly battering down upon anything and everything. "I'll be back tomorrow, okay? Can you last that long on your own?"
"Yeah yeah, have fun with your new girlfriend or whatever."
I nearly choked when I heard his reply. "That is not what-" I looked back at Jake, who seemed a bit concerned over my raised voice. My cheeks flushed with heat and I turned away to speak quietly into the phone. "That's not what I'm doing. He really is just my friend dammit."
I could practically feel Dave rolling his eyes at me behind his sunglasses. "Whatever you say. I'll last until tomorrow. And we can talk then. Bye Dirk."
"Bye Dave. Goodnight." I ended the call and put my phone down. I didn't need any more of that happening.
Jake looked at me with a bit of concern in his eyes. "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah..." I sighed. "My bro just got a little upset that I didn't call him earlier. It's alright though." I ran my hands through my hair in annoyance, making it stick up at odd angles. More than usual.
"I'm sure he'll calm down in a bit. No need to worry." Jake smiled, and so did I at his reassuring words. I sat down next to Jake on the couch, and he asked "What movie do you want to watch?"
"Hm... Oh, give it to me I have a good movie." He handed me the controller, and I typed it into the search bar. "Insidious? Isn't that a horror movie?" Jake questioned me, his eyes narrowing. "Well yeah," I replied, hitting play. "But I've heard it's good." I put the controller down as Jake looked like he was regretting having me stay over. I almost laughed; what had he gotten into by becoming friends with me?

___What had I gotten into by becoming friends with Dirk?
This movie is horrifying, and we were only about a half way in to it. I screamed at the same time someone in the movie did. No no nononono. This was a very bad idea.
I nearly fell off the couch when I felt a hand on my arm. I think my heart skipped a beat. Or five.
But it was just Dirk. "You okay? We can stop watching it if it's scaring you too much." There was concern in his voice, and a bit of fear. Was he scared too?
