"I bet, this time of night you're still up"
"I bet, you're tired from a long hard week"
"And I bet, you're sitting in your chair by the window. Looking out at the city"
"And I bet, sometimes you wonder about me"

Ever since we broke up, I've never really been the same. I've never gone to our favorite coffee shop, our our favorite restaurant because it makes me think of how much I miss everything about him. My friends, spouses of his teammates often ask how I am. I normally tell them that I'm ok, and that's kinda the end of it. Until it really isn't, and they want to go more in depth with it. I just tell them that I couldn't deal with his crazy schedule, and the fact we didn't spend enough time together. I knew that wasn't true. I don't even know why we broke up.

So now, here I am, thinking about what he's doing right now. Hoping, praying he's thinking about me.

"I wish I could tell you. It takes everything in me not to call you"
"And I wish I could run to you"
"And I hope you know that every time I don't. I almost do"
"I almost do"

Every time, late at night when I pick up the phone to press the contact I should have deleted months ago. I can't. Seeing the nickname I used to call him surrounded by hearts makes me realize that I really never moved on, but I know he probably has.

Whenever his team plays at home I always try to avoid any place I know that Jack would be. I've learned his schedule to try to avoid seeing him period. To avoid the heartbreak of seeing him with someone else.

"I bet, it never ever occurred to you that I can't say hello to you, and risk another goodbye"

It was a Saturday night, and I had been out. I knew that this was a bad idea. I was sick of getting hit on by old creeps and I just wanted to go home.

It was getting late, and I didn't want to take an Uber, so I called my best friend makayla.

"Hey, makayla I need you to come pick me up, I'm just want to go home. I was left alone a lot with my thoughts tonight and I didn't want to do something that I regret. Like telling Jack I'm still in love with him. I know it's dumb, but come pick me up. I need to stop thinking."

"Y/n?"

"Jack?"

"Shit Jack, forget that I even said anything. I'm gonna actually call Makayla this tim-"

"No, where are you, I'm coming to pick you up. Just stay where you are."

"Wait no please don't, please. This won't end well and we both know it. Fine, I'm at that bar on 6th that everyone goes to."

"See, that wasn't so hard. I'll be there in a minute."

Of course he was still that cocky son of a bitch that I had learned to love forever ago.

I knew that as soon as I had ended up picking the phone up my mind would go to him. Why did I have to call him.

It took around 5 minutes for Jack to show up and when he did my heart began to race even faster than it already was. I was scared of coming face to face with him after all these months of being apart.

"C'mon, let's get you in the car. I'm taking you back to my place. Don't want you thinking too hard and giving yourself a brain aneurysm there."
