You didn't know when you fell asleep but you did. The light tap on your shoulder caused you to jerk awake and shuffle towards the edge of the couch away from William. He sighed.
"You need to trust me a little more. I get you scared but I'm not going to harm you."
You sighed and looked away from him.
"You can't ask me to not fear you."
"Fair-" he shrugged giving up.
"I'm going to make dinner if you can. Go help Michael with his homework." He asked and walked off to the kitchen. You quickly made your way upstairs.
Maybe Michael can help you find a way out?

You walked into his room.
"Hey, your dad told me to come to help you."
Michael smiled.
"Yeah,"
"What are you working on?"
"Maths"
"Oh- I'm not the best at it but I can try-"
You said and took a seat next to him.
After a while of frustration, you finally finish up. This is when you had planned to tell Michael but something stopped you. The fear of William? The fear of getting caught? The fact Michael was a child? You didn't know why you couldn't ask him for help. But you hesitated. You hesitated for too long since William had appeared in the doorway.
"Dinner is ready." He explained and made us way back downstairs.

Michael jumped out of his seat excited as he dashed out of the room. You followed behind making your way downstairs and into the kitchen.
The table was set nicely and William had made pork chops you took your seat and watched as Michael put his hands together and closed his eyes. William did the same. Realizing they are about to pray you to do it as well and listen to William pray.
Finally, when they finished you began eating.
You carefully eat your food the awkward silence getting louder as you ate.
Michael looked to you.
"So uh, how do you feel? My dad said you were sick."
"Oh! I've been feeling much better now."
You smiled. William smiled at you as he ate.

You felt sick.
You kept eating nervously.
William and Michael begin talking about school.
"You know Michael is really smart."
"Oh?"
"While doing homework with him he seemed like he barely needed my help." You shrugged.
William looked to his son impressed.
"That's great Michael I'm glad to hear that."

The silence made everyone uncomfortable. Soon Michael cleaned his plate and left.
Once he left the room your eyes flickered towards William.
"How long are you going to keep me here? You do realize my family is probably worried sick."

He sighed.
"Which is why you will be calling them tonight, you will tell them you're going to stay with me."
"What!?"
"You will."
"I mean I don't have a choice." You sighed and dramatically threw your hands letting them fall to the sides of you.
Both yours and his plate were half-finished.
He was still eating but you just stared at the ceiling.
"Is it not good?" He asked.
"It's great, I'm just no longer hungry." You replied.
"Got it." He finished up his food and collected the plates. He threw away the food that wasn't finished and began washing the plates.
"Need help?" You asked lifting your head to look at him.
"That would be great thank you." He said and turned to face you. You walked over and began cleaning the dishes Bessie him.
He picked up a knife he used to cut the pork chops with which made you flinch and drop the plate in your hand. Thankfully it was into the sink and the plate didn't shatter.
He sighed and began cleaning the knife off.
"If your going to stay here it'd be best if you gave me a bit of trust." He said glancing at you.
"You-"
He cut you off.
"I understand I've given you no reason to trust me but it's going to be impossible to live in the same house if you don't at least trust me. Even a little." He looked down. He hated what he was about to say, you could see it by the look plastered on his face.
"I'm willing to gain that trust from you." He explained and looked you in the eyes. His eyes intimidated you but the soft glance made your body almost immediately calm. It felt like an involuntary response but looking back at it you know that wasn't true.
He watched your shoulders drop a little as the tension in them before vanishing.
"Okay." You muttered. A light smile formed on his face and he looked so genuine.
You put yourself back into reality and smiled nodding.
"Okay." You repeated. His smile grew and he turned back to the knife. Hesitantly you stood next to him once more cleaning the plate and silverware.
You wiped them off with a dry rag and put them back into their correct cabinets.
You left his side to go to the couch. You sat on it and flipped through channels.

William stood next to the couch.
"Hey so, Before work tomorrow me and you will be heading to the mall. I'll be shopping for clothes. For you."
You nodded, you understood why it wasn't pleasant and quite awkward to walk around in his dead-ex-wives clothes.
"Got it."
"Thank you for cooperating today. I know that uh, I know that your scared. It's not something anyone can hide but Uhm, just know that if you act normal when it will be normal. If you give me your trust I can give you mine." He explained and you nodded.
"It's not exactly easy though. I'm living in the same house with a murder."
"I'm more than just that."
he shrugged crossing his arms.
"What do you mean?" You asked.
"We can talk about this tomorrow. You'll be coming with me to work." He explained and walked upstairs rather quickly.
You just laid against the couch sighing.
"What the fuck did I get myself into?." You muttered.
