Bruno and I sat, hand in hand, at the head table as dinner was coming to an end. Tables and chairs had been brought out to line the sides of the courtyard, and Julieta had insisted on making the meal. Chatter from the guests and family filled the air and settled like a blanket of peace and happiness over Casita. It was a perfect night. "So, Corazón, who found the song that was sung when I walked down the aisle to you? I didn't recognize it." I asked as I leaned closer to be heard against the noise of the party. Bruno looked to me and with his index finger, tapped the side of his head.
"It was in one of my dreams while I was...w-was...I, um." He stuttered over his words when he realized where he was going with that sentence. "It came to me in a dream." His free hand came up to rub at his neck. I knew he could have visions in his dream, but I never knew they could be so detailed.
"Well, I'm glad you found it...or it found you I guess...either way, I liked it." He put his hand down and smiled softly at me. I began to wonder if he even noticed that he did that with his neck.
Just then, the music picked at slower notes and the crowd of guests started to step back from the center of the courtyard. I watched as Agustín stepped forward and held out his hand with a gentle bow. I smiled at Bruno when he kissed my cheek, it was time for the dance. Taking Agustín's hand I rounded the small table as he led me to the center of the crowd and Casita shifted the lamps to create a spotlight on us. With my hand in his and his hand at the middle of my back, he led me in a slow dance as if a father to a daughter. He smiled proudly as we danced gently in a circle and I could see the rest of the family watching with smiles of their own.
After about a minute, I saw Bruno stepping up next to us. Agustín let go of me and stepped back with a small bow and a wide smile. "She's all yours." He moved away and Bruno took his place. His hand on mine and his other on my waist, holding me as if I were made of glass. We danced together for a few moments longer before others started joining in. I looked into Bruno's eyes and saw myself reflected in those beautiful hazel pools. Nothing needed said in that moment, the way he held me, the way he looked at me, spoke volumes.
Once the melody finished, the band stared playing songs that had a faster tempo. Many of the younger crowd were out dancing now, too. Bruno spun me around and pulled me in against him as I laughed. His arm came around to cradle against my shoulders as he held me close to his body. Memories of previous dances we've had filled my mind and I couldn't help but smile. I wrapped an arm over his shoulder and let my other dip down at my side. My slender fingers gripping at the fabric of my skirt and flipping it in time with our steps. I lost myself in the music and movement of our bodies as we danced like the old days. The way he could move his body to the beat of the songs sent chills of excitement up my spine, and the way he held me while doing so, ignited a fire in my belly.
After a couple of dances, Bruno and I stepped away from the others to sit down and catch our breath. "That brought back some memories." Bruno said with a smile. He put his hand low on his chest as he reclined in his seat. I hummed and scooted my chair closer so I could lean my head against his shoulder as I asked.
"Good ones I hope?" He leaned he's head against mine, and his words held suggestion to them.
"Very good ones, mí amor." He squeezed my hand. "It's starting to get late. Think anyone will notice if we sneak off?" I giggled and felt my body quiver at what he was suggesting.
"Dolores might notice." I felt him laugh as I lifted my head to look into his eyes. They were full of love and wanting for me. I knew that look well.
"I don't think she'll say anything." I felt his fingers lightly caress the line of my jaw as his lips pressed gently against mine. Barely controlled longing laid heavy in his kiss. The way I melted against his touch said it all. When he pulled away to look me in the eyes, I could hardly focus, my mind was still so preoccupied with his kiss.
