"Sudden Heat Wave"

As the afternoon settled in,a warm heat started to replace the cool breeze.Because of that,everyone was cooling themselves off.M/N was by the poolside with just his swimming trunks on and was happily sipping on his cold iced tea,Seungcheol walked to him in the same attire and sat by his side since he was simply dipping his feet into the pool "You don't want to get in?".M/N shook his head "I'm not in the mood yet,I don't like swimming alone",Seungcheol couldn't help but laugh "Well,I'm here now.That changes things a little,doesn't it?".M/N laid his head on his shoulder "Not yet,appa",Seungcheol put his arm on M/N's shoulder before caressing his neck "You're such a baby,but your body says otherwise".The boy shrugged his shoulders "That's why you don't judge a book by its cover,appa",the other smiled and simply enjoyed his bonding with his new son.

After a while,they were all in the pool having fun.Mingyu was happily splashing at Woozi,but M/N was left alone.Jun noticed it and was quick to approach him,he sat by his side at the pool stairs "Why aren't you joining us?Is something wrong?".M/N shook his head "I didn't want to interfere with the fun you guys are having,and probably because I'm shy",Jun laughed and got his hand as he went off the stairs "Come with me,I'll play with you".At an instant,M/N was dragged to where Minghao was by Jun and was quickly splashed at.The two Chinese men teasingly annoyed him with splashes before they were thrown back with a big splash,M/N smirked "You think I'd let you two win so easily?".He retaliated constantly before it became an all-out splash war within M/N and his other brothers,Jeonghan and Seungcheol watched them before they noticed that M/N was covering his eyes.Jeonghan swam to him and shielded him from the splashes of his eleven brothers "Did your eyes get hit by the water?",M/N shook his head "I'm just feeling a little tired,that's all.I don't want to rub my eyes either".Jeonghan got him in his arms and carried him out of the pool "You guys go play with each other,M/N needs to rest a little",he put him on a beach chair and placed a towel on his body "You stay here,I'll go get you some clothes".He walked back in with a towel around him and left M/N by himself,Seungcheol got out of the pool and sat at the chair right next to him "Is our little criminal court lawyer tired?".M/N nodded "Very~",Seungcheol pat his head "Don't worry,you can take a nap.You've had enough fun for today".He saw Jeonghan walking to him and instantly protected M/N from being seen as he changed,it may have been just a few minutes that he's met him but he was ready to be the father he deserves.

TIMESKIP

Once the afternoon air become cool again,they were back inside - confined in their own rooms.M/N was peacefully reading about the criminal court from a book that he found in the shelf before he heard the door open,Woozi smiled as he walked in "Mind if I stay with you for a while?Hoshi is getting a bit loud,he's annoying right off the bat - it's pretty obvious by now".M/N nodded "It's all fine,hyung",he laid by his side and saw what M/N was reading "Oh wow,having to handle clients in a criminal court is so complex".The boy laughed "Don't think of me as a stupid person,hyung.I'm the Top 2 of my graduating law class,well,I graduated college when I was just 17 since I skipped grades because of how smart I am",the other nudged his shoulder "Stop bragging,you're making me feel inferior".M/N chuckled and laid his head on his shoulder,Woozi slowly put his arm over his shoulder "I was just teasing you,I may have just met you today but I feel like I've been by your side since you were born.You won't just make me proud once either,you'll always make me feel proud of having a younger brother like you".He kissed his head "Do you understand me,hm?",M/N hit his thigh "Yes,hyung".The two brothers sweetly stayed by each other's side,however,they didn't notice the two pairs of eyes that belonged to Jeonghan and Seungcheol were watching them from the door.Jeonghan quickly snapped a picture before closing the door,he was glad that M/N was getting close with someone so quickly but forgot that he wasn't used to being part of a rich family yet.

On the other hand,Dokyeom was happily playing guitar in his room.He hummed the tune mellowly before he heard something open,he saw his puppy try to climb up the bed and helped it up "Seems like someone had enough playtime with Joshua,hm?".He pat its head and let it sit on his lap,he played with his puppy until it fell asleep on his lap.With boredom settling in his mind,he went out his room and walked to living room.He remembered what had happened moments ago but forcefully put it away at the back of his head,he laid down on the couch and went on his phone.He heard steps nearing him and saw Jeonghan "Yes,dad?",he walked to him and sat by the opposite couch "Are you tired?".Dokyeom shook his head "Just bored,that's all",Jeonghan laughed "Well,I'll go to the kitchen.If you need me,just go there".He left as Dokyeom's eyes were glued on his phone screen.However,he did want to do something but he knew barging in M/N's room so suddenly would be more than rude.

As the night came,they were all gathered at the kitchen but M/N was the only one that wasn't helping.He was by the counter still reading about the criminal charges he had to familiarize himself with,he sighed as he ran his hands through his hair "That's it,I'll continue reading later before bed.My head hurts way too much,I may be smart but I have a limit".Joshua went to him and got the book "We all do,buddy.If you ever need this,just check the living room",he walked off and M/N went to Mingyu.He backhugged his tall and buff brother before speaking "Hyung,I need a hug",Mingyu laughed "I'll hug you later,don't worry.Let me just finish doing this and I'll give you what you want,okay?".M/N pouted "But I want it now though~",Mingyu knew he couldn't say no and hugged him.He kissed his head "Our new little brother is so cute,I'm lucky~",M/N nuzzled his chest and that was all it took for Mingyu to smile.He lifted him up like he was a child and kissed his cheek "How can a soon-to-be criminal court lawyer be this cute,hm?",M/N pursed his lips "I don't know...duality,I guess?".Vernon muffled his laugh "You guess?How adorable~",M/N went silent at the remark and the air in the room quickly turned heavy.Mingyu brought the boy to the living room,however,the other was left to get an unforgettable punishment.

It wasn't long before they were eating and Vernon was under the careful watch of Seungcheol,Jun gave M/N more veggies "Hey,eat more.You're not fat anyway".The younger got it reluctantly "I was reserving space for some before bed salad in my stomach but I guess I'm not getting to eat salad now,how sad...",the older next to him(Hoshi) came to his rescue and got them "Don't worry,you'll be able to eat your salad later.Hyung will eat them for you,he's been starving himself because of his strict diet anyway!".He devoured them like he was starved,however,he honestly felt like vomiting as he tasted the broccoli stems.On the other hand,M/N finished the final morsel on his plate.He went to prepare his salad the moment he stood up and Dokyeom accompanied him,the older brother got out an average-sized bowl "What do you usually have in your before bed salad?".The younger brother spoke gleefully "If I remember well,it's lettuce,diced apples,three chopped tomatoes,a whole bowl of blackberries,and some bacon bits to finish it off.I usually make it a bit sweeter with a light drizzle of maple syrup on top,just to make it easier to digest",Dokyeom got everything he needed "Well,I'll prepare everything and you get changed.I'll bring it to your room once I'm done".M/N gave him a nod and walked off,truth be told,the fear of being part of a rich family temporarily left his mind but that didn't mean it'd stay unnoticed forever.He went to his room and got his towel,he headed to the bathroom and was slightly flustered when he saw how luxurious it was.He got out of his clothes and went to shower,his head was filled with so much thoughts as the water ran down his chiseled physique but one stood out : "Seems like this new life is gonna be fun,I hope"
