Good thing about being partnered with Wendy, which I finally found out today, is she is the best vocalist in Red Velvet. The way she pulled off the high notes seemed effortless, and she's like a professional.
But one thing...
"I don't know how to rap." Wendy uttered, "Can we just stick to the plan and do the duet, I mean just sing?"
"We have to do something unexpected, that way, we could get more marks." She rolled her eyes, "trust me, we won last year's competition by surprising the juries. I think it will work this year too."
"So, when everyone else got their consultants from the teachers and you actually 'chose' our consultant? Really?" She asked.
"Yeah. Good thing, CL sunbaenim is on break. She could teach you."
Wendy groaned. "I'm so terrible at rapping."
"I agree. I learn how to rap from Mino. Since our position has been confirmed, we take lessons to sharpen our talent."
"Ours too. Many people say rapping is easy, you just have to say the words quickly but clearly, but it's so hard to do. Joy is good at rapping."
"Don't worry. It will work out." I said.
"I'll learn how to rap tomorrow since today your sunbae couldn't make it." She said, "let's just practice on Verse 2, you kept messing up."
And just like that, she changed the topic and I'm failed to argue.

"Your chick is really pretty!" CL complimented me, but seriously? Chick?
"I know right." Taehyun winked at me.
And this broom is actually agreed to it.
I forced a smile and lightly bowed to her. "Annyeonghaseyo, I'm SM rookie, Wendy imnida."
"I know. Taehyun talked about you a lot over the phone." CL said and Taehyun smiled at her. "He said, you are terrible at rapping, are you really..?"
I eyed Taehyun and he just shrugged. Really? He could've just said I'm not good at it instead of saying terrible.
"Yes, I'm umm I'm quite terrible." I replied.
"Okay, try to repeat after me." So I did. "Okay, this is way too far from I imagined." CL said and shook her head.
•
"No, no. You are too slow. Try to fasten the pace of the rhythm." CL said.
I tried and tried over and over again. "Don't slur the words, Wendy-ssi."
I sighed and tried again but the result is same.
"We'll take a break then." CL said and sat down.
"I'll go to the toilet." I said and got out.
•
"You still wanted to go with the rap thingy? Wendy, yeah, it's hard for me to say, but rapping isn't her style."
Yeah. I'm not in toilet. But I'm peeping. Or the best I can say is eavesdropping.
Like I imagined. They talked about me.
"I know. She's just terrible." Taehyun said and I can see he heavy-sighed.
I looked down to my feet, feeling annoyed, disappointed and insecure. No one ever questioned my singing ability before and I never felt so down and useless about my singing. But Taehyun somehow managed to make me feel that way, just like that, I lost faith.
