Eventful Morning

I sat across from Sebastian at the dining table with my brother. I saw Ciel being mischievous as usual. He tossed a dart at our gardener, Finnian. The dart hit him in the back of the head as he yelled, "What was that for, Master?" He rubbed his head in pain. Our maid, Mey Rin was quivering like a leaf when the dart struck the gardener.

Rather pompously, Ciel said, "Nothing, I don't need to justify my actions." I looked at him with a raised eyebrow, "So you did that just for the fun of it? You must be mad as a hatter," I was slightly teasing in the way I spoke.

"Don't question it, Clara," my brother advised me. After our parents and dog died, Ceil had become a different person. "I will remember that," I responded flatly.

Sebastian found the banter amusing for some reason. I could tell by the way he chuckled.
"The Phantomhive's, never a dull moment," he smiled. He stood up from where he was sitting, remembering he had duties to attend to. I smiled back, "I'm so glad you find us entertaining," I teased. I got up from the table and playfully kissed him on the cheek. Sebastian smiled alluringly at me and hugged me from the side. "Clara, are you capable of restraining yourself?" Ciel scowled, his visible blue eye glaring; his other eye was covered with an eye patch to hide his Faustian mark. "You may be head of the house, but you don't control me," I snapped at my brother.

He had gotten a little too bold since inheriting Phantomhive Manor. Last time I checked, I was the eldest.

I elegantly walked out of the dining hall and I went to the rose garden to calm down; this was where I would go to clear my head when I was sad, angry, frustrated, etc.

I had merely kissed Sebastian on the cheek. Over the years, we had become close, and now that I am older, I have begun to develop feelings for him. For a lady of high society to marry her butler was unheard of, but Sebastian would inherit my half of the mansion if I married him, making him a man of high society. This probably would not happen since it was only a fantasy in my mind.

Every night for the past couple of months, I had dreamt of us kissing in the garden, and it had become something I looked forward to.

In the past few nights, however, the dream has felt almost real and I felt his arms around me in a hug, kissing my forehead and then my lips. I never imagined that I would fall in love with a demon.

"Are you alright, Lady Clara?" Sebastian had appeared next to me, and he was very quick to move undetected. "Yes, but my brother drives me crazy sometimes." I responded, looking at him shyly.

"Brothers can be troublesome at times," he told me. "You have a brother?" "No, but I can feel your distress," he smiled sympathetically. "Is there anything I can do to help you regain that beautiful smile again?" Sebastian touched my face with his gloved hand to bring my face to his. "I hope this doesn't sound forward, but I'd like a hug." I said innocently. "It's not forward at all, my little dove." My butler took my hands and gently stood me up, and then he put his arms around me in a hug; holding me close.

Since he was a lot taller than me, I felt like he was shielding me from the heartache of the world.

I looked up at him with an innocent smile, "Well, you have succeeded in making me smile." "Nothing makes me happier than to see you happy," he said kindly. "But I'm not done hugging you yet." I replied playfully.

"Take all the time you need, little dove," he tightened his hug around me and then he kissed the top of my head. All my fears melted away. As we stood there in that comforting embrace, I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. Sebastian's warmth enveloped me, and for a moment, the weight of the world seemed to lift off my shoulders. I savored the safety of his embrace, grateful for his soothing presence in the midst of my troubles, even as small as an argument with my brother. I found solace in the peaceful silence, relishing every moment spent in Sebastian's comforting arms.
