The Setup

Chapter 2: Turkey and Terror

Peter was late. 

 Briana awkwardly paced back and fourth, subconsciously chewing on her finger nails. "Oh dear, don't do that!" Aunt May said to the brunette, her blue eyes looking apologetically at the older woman. "I'm sorry, Aunt may...it's just awkward being here without Peter" especially because she and MJ didn't really get along with each other. 

"Do you know when he'll be back?" Before Aunt May could answer Briana's question her attention was pulled to the door, it seemed Harry's father, Norman Osborn had arrived to meet his sons new girlfriend MJ. 

 Briana couldn't help but to feel completely captivated by the older man's piercing blue eyes, something about them painted a picture of a man that was seemingly a million miles away, even if he was standing in the middle of the room. Bri stood off to the side away from the crowd as Harry and Mary Jane spoke briefly to Norman but soon his eyes fell on Briana, seeming more interested in her than Mary jane.

 "Who's your friend Harry?" He asked with an unreadable grin on his face, a look so intense Bri wanted to crawl inside her own skin. "I'm Briana Reed..." She answered faking confidence, raising her voice as to not feel as small as she did in this man's presence. 

 "Bri is Peter's girlfriend" Harry spoke up for her. That wasn't true, Briana was not Peter's girlfriend, they were simply friends but she wouldn't go correcting him in front of his father. "Oh? I didn't think Peter had a girlfriend and not one as pretty as you" his words oozed intensity, his tongue caressing each individual word, it was enough to send chills down Briana's spine.

 Suddenly their attention turned back on to Peter, a sigh of relief from Bri as the room was no longer focused on her like she were a science project. When Peter did return Briana sensed the dinner wouldn't be lasting all that long, something was up with Norman Osborn, his behavior was almost alien as he stared at Peter with a cold sweat.

 "Mister Osborn!" Briana spoke to break the thick tension in the room. "Harry tells me there are a few positions at Oscorp...i was thinking of applying" she smiled sweetly. "Ah I'm sure i could get you a job, after all a friend of Harry's is a friend of mine" He was talking to her but not making eye contact, it seemed his mind kept dragging back to Peter.

 He wasn't staying focused on anything but the blue eyed boy and it wasn't long at all until he went storming out, Harry chasing after him like a puppy dog. What followed was brutal, what he said about Mary Jane was horrid! Even Briana felt bad, giving an apologetic glance to the redhead despite not liking her.

 What Norman said next really shocked Bri. She heard the eccentric man tell his own son to "try the brunette out for a test drive or maybe i will" the whole room heard it, making the tension even more awkward when Harry returned and he and MJ got into a fight over his dad. Briana couldn't wait for Thanksgiving to be over. 

She was no longer having a good time.
