Hiding Place

"Why are you here of all places?", said Caitlin to Peter Sam. "I actually just came here a few days ago. Right before the blast, Rusty and I were at the quarry collecting trucks of rock. Suddenly, we heard a big explosion and the quarry sirens went off. So we hid in one of the sheds until the sirens went off and it seemed clear. We puffed out of the quarry into the brachlines. Skarloey had been shot and put out of his misery while we noticed Duke was not strong enough to withstand the blast. We took a rest at Cross-ny-Cuirn when Rheneas chuffed up behind us. He was horribly mutated and started to chase us. We puffed away as fast as we could, our rods rattled. There was a crossing ahead us and we decided to switch the points when I passed the line. But after Rusty got pass, the points changed back before I could go with him. We were separated while I was still being chased by Rheneas." "That's terrible! How did you escaped him?" "Well, I was heading here with him still chasing me but when we went across the old bridge... Rheneas derailed and fell to his death. And that brings us to now. I hope Rusty is ok." "I'm sorry for your friend, Rheneas. I can assure you though that I have seen Rusty." "Really! Where?" "I saw him on the Culdee Fell." "That is definitely a relief! By the way, what was that loud explosion?", asked Peter Sam with curiosity. "Oh, it was just... a problem that has been solved." Realizing what she meant, Peter Sam asked no more about it. Caitlin spoke, "The explosion might attract other engines or monsters. We need a place to go." "I know a good place to go. A place of myths, Misty Island." "I've heard of Misty Island. I have never been there myself, though. How do you get there?" "You will have to go through the tunnel near the Search and Rescue Center. I have to go a different route because there are.no dual tracks to the center but I promise I will be there by the time you get there." "OK. I will see you there." "Be sure not to attract too much attention. We don't want any unwanted guests." After Peter Sam left, Caitlin went on here way to the search and rescue center. She made it to the entrance of the tunnel. She looked around to make sure no one was there. "Good. No one is here." As soon as she said that, she heard a whistle she had never heard before. It was loud and low whooott. She looked around but saw no one. So she went into the tunnel to Misty Island. What she didn't know was that there was an engine watching here, following slowly into the tunnel. It had a tender and had a tallish funnel.
