Bright and Not-so Early

Are you kidding me.

Why did I think that me getting up at 4 in the morning was gonna work? I can barely wake up as it is, let alone earlier. I grunted when I looked the clock, 7:15. I woke up on time, but of course the one time I did, I didn't plan on it.

"Good morning, Tikki," I said softly, rolling over to see her. She opened her eyes a little bit and smiled at me, she was the cutest thing.

"Good morning," she replied sleepily.

"You stay here, I'm just gonna get ready and let the kwamis out. Don't let them out of your sight while I change," I commanded, and she got up.

I climbed down the ladder to grab my normal clothes, and then to the miracle box. I clicked in the password, and all the kwamis flew out right away, except Barkk. She hated mornings.

"What a lovely day it is, dear guardian!" Pollen exclaimed, twirling around my head.

"That it is, dear Pollen," I said, she said she liked it when I referred to her with the same tone she used to talk to me.

"Is Barkk sleeping?" I asked.

"If she wasn't, I'd be concerned," Longg said.

"Okay, you guys all your energy out in here, I'll be changing behind the curtain,"

They all gave me a chorus of agreement, and I pulled the big curtain to cover myself while I changed. I came out and had to fix my pigtails, and put on some shoes. I put on a layer of my signature chapstick, passionfruit flavor, Adrien's favorite.

"Tikki, you ready to go soon? We should leave in a few minutes to meet Alya," I said, then realizing I never actually convinced Alya to delete the blog post. I'll just have to bug her about it all day at school, easy.

"Yes, I'm ready when you are," Tikki replied, playing around with one of the little fedoras I'd made for her.

I put my homework back into my binder and into my bag, then slipped it onto my shoulders.

After a making sure every kwami was back in the miracle box, I headed downstairs for breakfast. My dad had made a fresh batch of warm muffins, and I felt bad to devour it the way I did, but I needed to get out.

"Have a good morning sweetheart!" Mom called to me, and I gave Dad a hug and thank you before leaving for school.

Adrien~

I got up right at 7, my alarm clock was blaring in my ears. Father refused to buy me a new one because he said it's "imperative that I get up right when I need to." I basically slammed the off button, and stretched as far as I could in my bed.

I got changed and put Plagg into my jacket before going to downstairs to a perfectly prepared breakfast.

"Good morning Adrien," Nathalie said, scaring me out of my skin.

"Good morning, how is Father?"

"Busy." Nathalie replied, to which my face fell.

"However," she added, "He does want to have breakfast with you tomorrow morning, he told me to tell you,"

"Really? That's so nice of him!" I replied, perking up. Seeing him tomorrow was going to be the best part of my week, maybe even my month. I think Nathalie even smiled at my excitement, but I'm not sure.

I sat down and started eating my breakfast as Nathalie dismissed herself into Father's office.

"Wow, breakfast with your father, that's great!" Plagg said quietly from my jacket.

"I know, it's gonna be great," I replied, finishing up my breakfast with my newfound sense of purpose.

Gorilla was outside already, ready to drive me to school. Honestly, still getting to go to school is the best gift my father's ever given me. Especially with akumatizations everywhere, I'm surprised he's been keeping his word.

I got into the car with my bag and dazed back into thought. Today I was gonna talk to Ladybug, if she even responded to me, and she doesn't like doing that either. I was trying to think of happier things rather than a possible fight with Ladybug tonight, so I thought about school again. It was great, I loved every single part of it. I loved getting up every morning to go to it, I loved the teachers, I loved where I sat, I even loved the gum under my seat.

Best of all, I loved my friends. Especially Nino, Alya, and Marinette. Even though Nino was my first friend, Marinette always had a special place in my heart. I don't think I'll ever stop being grateful I won her friendship on the day I gave her my umbrella, it was incredible. The way she made me laugh when the umbrella closed on her, and how she was just...pretty?

hold on.

did I say she was pretty?

That's not what I meant. I meant that when I stopped laughing, I just noticed a few things about her. Like how her eyes were the best shade of blue, like diamonds. Maybe I also noticed how her cheeks got all warm when I handed her my umbrella, but that didn't mean anything.

Friends blush around friends. It's a thing.
