Mason smiled as he woke up. It was the comforting sound of Sophie's heart beating in her chest. Mason opened his eyes to see himself in Sophie's breast. He looked up at her face to see her sleeping peacefully.
Why not just enjoy this for a bit longer? Mason thought. He rested his head closer to her chest to hear her heart beating slowly, calmly. It was better than any lullaby. Mason couldn't resist but close his eyes again and drift back off to sleep.
--
'Good morning, Honey Bear!'
Mason heard Sophie speak through her body since he still had his ear pressed against her chest. It woke him up immediately.
'Morning, Baby,' Mason yawned. He stretched, rubbed his eyes and squinted up at Sophie against the bright light coming into his eyes.
Sophie picked him up and planted a quick kiss across his face.
Mason smiled. 'Last night was great. We should do that again!'
'I'd love that!' Sophie responded energetically.
The two got ready as usual. Sophie showered and Mason bathed in strawberry-infused hot water that Sophie had made for him. Sophie put on her nurse outfit as usual.
'Last day of work,' Sophie said. 'We should go somewhere on the weekend.'
'What did you have in mind?' Mason asked.
Sophie handed Mason a crumb, delicately handing it over to him on her fingernail. 'The beach would be nice. Or we could go for a hike in the mountains.'
Mason thought for a moment. 'I wouldn't be able to hike.'
'You could go rock-climbing!' Sophie suggested. 'I'm sure there would be plenty of rocks up there for you to climb.'
'That's true. I'd actually really enjoy that.' Mason smiled up at Sophie. 'Let's do that then?'
'Of course! I'll find all kinds of difficult places for you to climb. And I'll have my hand under you the whole time.' Sophie winked.
Mason laughed. 'I can't wait.'
'I'll be out with some friends tonight, are you going to be OK here by yourself?'
'Of course!' Mason flexed his muscles. 'What do you think these are for?'
Sophie laughed and squeezed Mason between her fingers. They talked for a few minutes more until Sophie decided she had to leave. She licked Mason's body, which surprised him. Mason thought she was going for a kiss. She must have really enjoyed last night.
Once Sophie closed the door behind her, Mason as usual slid down the string and ran over to the iPad. He opened up reddit, and to his surprise had two new messages in his inbox. One was from a user called "Stringbeanz". After a brief look at the message, Mason knew it had to be from Steve. But Mason didn't pay much attention to it. He became excited to see a message from Bobfish.
'Are you finally ready to talk?' Mason opened the message and began reading.
"Hey Crinch, it's amazing to hear directly from such an adept micro like yourself. Do you have any advice for a novice like myself? I'm stunned to hear of your glider...
"Sorry, but I can't say anything about how I got the sample. You must know of the consequences..."
Consequences? It made more sense to Mason now. No wonder no one wanted to discuss how they got their sample. Perhaps they were threatened, which to a micro would be a big threat.
Mason sighed. There was no other option. He had to hack Bobfish's computer using his skills to get to the bottom of this. What he knew so far wasn't nearly enough. The fact that samples were distributed meant that it had to be Laura's, or somebody else's, saliva. Is Laura really behind all of this? Mason couldn't let her get away with murder, literally.
Mason, using his cybersecurity skills, eventually broke through into Bobfish's computer. Images of Bobfish's personal life popped up on Mason's laptop. He was a divorced father, with pictures of his single child. Mason quickly found out that the child had died. Perhaps he became a micro because he wanted a new life. Mason felt awful for diving into someone's personal life like this, but there were more important issues at stake.
There were no files Mason could see related to the shrinking serum, except for one message he had sent to someone called Gary, saying "got it!". Perhaps Gary had told him about the serum. Mason wrote down Gary's number in his iPad. Maybe Gary could provide answers.
Mason dialed the number. It rang for a few seconds before Mason got through.
'Yes?' Said a male voice. It must be Gary.
Mason drew on his role-playing skills that he had previously only used with Sophie to have fun and interesting conversations, as well as during sex. 'Um, hi, I haven't received my sample yet.'
Gary sighed. 'It'll come. It's not tracked so we can't say when it'll show up, but it will.'
'It's been over two months,' Mason complained.
A brief silence. 'Who is this?'
Mason had a back-up name ready from a Reddit post. 'Jake.' He had taken it from the username "Jakeis2022". Mason had to hope that the user's name actually was Jake, and that he didn't yet text someone that the sample had arrived. It was a recent post, so Jake may not have yet sent the confirmation text.
After a long pause, and much anxious sweating on Mason's part, Gary eventually responded. 'We'll send another sample.'
'Thank you,' Mason said. He wasn't entirely satisfied with the conversation, and it came across in his tone of voice. He wanted more of a lead.
'Is something wrong?' Gary had caught onto Mason's unsatisfied tone.
'No, no,' Mason said.
'You said you were Jake?'
He's suspicious. 'Yes, thank you.'
Mason ended the call. It was a very suspicious way to hang up, but Mason couldn't think of any other response. He knew Gary would just have become more suspicious as Mason fumbled his responses.
Now I just have to find Jake's address and take the sample, Mason thought. But then what? Laura wouldn't provide the details of the company's location on the sample. It was probably a black market, after all.
'Oh well,' Mason sighed. 'At least it's a start.'
