On March 7th, Seventeen's agency Pledis Entertainment released an official statement announcing The8 had tested positive for COVID-19 after taking the PCR test.

Pledis Entertainment wrote: "Hello. This is Pledis Entertainment.

We would like to notify Seventeen member The8 has been tested positive for COVID-19 as well as adjustments in his schedules.

The8 took a self-test kit on March 5th and he was tested negative. However, as he experienced mild coughs he preemptively took a PCR test on the same day (March 5th) and was confirmed with COVID-19 on Monday, March 7th. The8 currently doesn't have any particular symptoms and is administering self-treatment at home.

All Seventeen members other than S.Coups, Hoshi, Wonwoo, DK, Seungkwan, and Vernon preemptively took self-test kits on Sunday, March 6th. All results came back as negative and are not exhibiting any symptoms.

Therefore, it would be difficult for The8 to take part in Seventeen's activity for a while. We will provide you with updates on his activity in the future.

We will continue to provide support for the fast recovery of The8, placing our highest priority on the health and safety of our artists. We will also continue to fully cooperate with the requests and guidelines of healthcare authorities.

Thank you."
