Erebor, Thorin strides toward the blocked-off gate, calling the other dwarves to him. "Come on!"

The dwarves lay down their tools, pick up their weapons, and follow him up the stairs they've created in the blockage, all the way to a platform they have built at the top of the gate from which they have a vantage point over the plain in front of the entrance. They see the walls of Dale filled with Elves ready for war. You ride up the path to the gate on a horse and stop in front of the entrance. "Hail Thorin, son of Thrain!"

The dwarves look at you surprised. "Midnight?!" Bilbo exams and you smile up at him with a nod. "It's me, Master Baggins. I'm glad to see you alive and well." You say, but Throin shows no emotion to your return and sneers coldly. "Why do come to the gates of the king under the mountain armed for war?" You turn to him; your blue eyes glint as you lock eyes. "I am not for war; I've come to negotiate with the king under the mountain. will you not listen to a friend?" Thorin nods and steps away from the platform and down the stairs.

You dismount your horse and pet it as you go to the gate. Suddenly a raven flies out of the opening above the entrance and wings away rapidly, cawing loudly. You see the hole in the wall and see Throin stride up on the other side. "I'm listening." He says, not fully listening to you. You lean on the wall, your reptile eyes searching his face. "You've changed." You state but get on the topic of why you've come.  "On behalf of the people of Laketown, I ask that you honor your pledge. A share of the treasure so that they might rebuild their lives." Throin turns to you, disbelief in his eyes.

"You've joined them? We're your friends; they barely knew or helped you." He says. You sigh but don't avert your eyes. "They gave us food and a place to stay. I hold no grudge. They gave us some we needed. But, Throin, you're not yourself." You hiss, your eyes blazing. Throin backs away. He knows bout the beast lurking in you. "I offer to return to you if you give the people of lake town their share of the treasure. And the king of the elves his gems. If not, then I won't be on either side in this war." Your back away from the wall.

"Your threats do not sway me," Throin says and stares hard at you, his face angry. "Their no threats, king Throin. They're simply facts." You snarl. Thorin turns away from the hole, disappearing from your view. He leans back against the blockade and, for a moment, looks tired and weary. He then looks at the other dwarves and Bilbo, all standing there. Finally, he shouts back to you. "Begone, ere arrow fly!" You scoff and turn back to your horse, but not without leaving something. Bilbo sees it and takes it up.

None of the dwarves has noticed. He lays it in his pocket, describing to see what it could be later.

You ride back to Dale. The company watches you go from the top of the platform. "What are you doing?! You cannot go to war." Bilbo exclaims. "This does not concern you," Throin answers coldly. "Excuse me?! But just in case you haven't noticed, there is an army of elves out there. And not to mention several hundred angry fishers. If midnight has desterdet us, which I know she wouldn't. We-We is outnumbered." Thorin turns to look at Bilbo, smiling. "Not for much longer." bilbo frown and say, "What does that mean?" throin straighten and smirks slowly. "It means Master Baggins, you should never underestimate Dwarves." he then turns to the whole group.

"We have reclaimed Erebor - Now we defend it!" As Thorin strides down the steps, Bilbo and Balin look distressed.

in the meantime, you've reached Thranduil, petting your horse as it stops in front of his steed. "He will give us nothing," you say. Thranduil titles his head. "Such a pity. Still, you tried," he says. you sigh and look behind you. "I do not understand - Why? Why would he risk war?" it's true; you didn't understand that. the throin you knew wouldn't have risked war, but at the same time, he's a dwarf. "It is fruitless to reason with them; they understand only one thing," Thranduil says, and you turn back to look at him, blue eyes glinting with an ever-burning fire. the elf king smirks as he pulls out his sword and gazes at it. "We attack at dawn! Are you with us?" As Thranduil rides back toward the city, you're having an inner battle with yourself.
