Marinette Dupain-Cheng sighed as she poured the energy drink into her coffee. God knew she would need it to get through class, after the late night Akuma attack that waged until four in the morning. At this point, she was running purely on caffeine and spite. Maybe she could put that on a shirt and sell it. Nah, too tacky. She was exhausted, her head was pounding, and she had to fight the urge to strangle a certain liar who just had to ramble about her supposed weekend in Achu. Yes, she thought tiredly, she'd definitely need that coffee.
"Kwami, how stupid must you be to fall for that shit?" Chloé grumbled, chin resting on her hands, as she glared in contempt. Marinette was reminded of a time when she used to be the victim of those glowers, and couldn't help but be thankful that things had changed between them. It was strange to think that her once-bully was now one of her greatest friends.
"Maybe we should revisit our theory that she's an alien with mind control powers," Marinette drawled, before taking a swig of her coffee, not even wincing at the strong taste.
Alix snorted from in front of them, "I mean it's our most plausible one so far. Although my personal favourite is still that she magically destroys people's brain cells just by being near them."
The three of them had chosen seats at the back of the class, hoping that the distance would be enough to spare them from hearing the Liar and her posse gossiping at the front. Unfortunately, they had underestimated just how loud Lila Rossi could "whisper" about her date with Prince Ali, and it was as if her herd of sheep were blind to the fact that whilst she was talking of her whirlwind romance with one man, she was hanging off the arm of another.
Marinette couldn't help but feel a dull rage for her best friend, taking notice of the grimace on his face at the acrylics digging into his arm. Anyone could see he was clearly uncomfortable, yet no one so much as acknowledged it. Of course, at first, she'd tried to stand up for him, however, after Adrien had pulled her to the side and informed her of how his father expected him to put up with her, lest he be pulled out from school, she knew better than to voice her thoughts. She really did hate his father for being such an abusive, neglectful shit that he forces his son to put up with the Italian's sexual harassment. Forget that, he likely didn't even know about it, after all the times he'd brushed Adrien off when the blond had tried to confide in him.
She pulled her phone out, and fired him a text on the group chat.
