"Ah, Mx. Y/n!" a guard said in a delighted voice. "The emperor sends this letter to you."

You looked at Hunter, who looked nervous behind his mask. 

You were eating ice cream on a bench outside a park. He wasn't eating ice cream because he was just guarding you. Hunter was also standing by the bench with his staff, to make it more convincing.

What does Belos want from me?  You thought.

You hesitated. "Uh, yeah. Okay..." You grabbed the paper and started reading.

You paused. Raising your eyebrow you frowned. Who's he calling dearest? You scowl, continuing.

𝙸 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠 𝚒𝚝 𝚖𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚞𝚙𝚜𝚎𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝙷𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚒𝚜 𝚞𝚗𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚐𝚘 𝚘𝚗 𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚌 𝚍𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚜 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚋𝚎𝚌𝚊𝚞𝚜𝚎, 𝚊𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠, 𝚑𝚎'𝚜 𝚐𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚍. 𝙸 𝚞𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚑𝚘𝚠 𝚏𝚛𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚖𝚞𝚜𝚝 𝚋𝚎, 𝚜𝚘 𝙸 𝚛𝚎𝚚𝚞𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚛𝚘𝚘𝚖 𝟼 𝚘'𝚌𝚕𝚘𝚌𝚔 𝚙𝚖. 𝙸 𝚠𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚍𝚒𝚜𝚌𝚞𝚜𝚜 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐𝚜 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚢𝚘𝚞. 𝙰𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚎.

𝙱𝚎𝚜𝚝 𝚠𝚒𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚜,

             𝔈𝔪𝔭𝔢𝔯𝔬𝔯 𝔅𝔢𝔩𝔬𝔰 

You stared at the letter. He knows... He's letting me know he knows, without even saying anything!

"Y/n?" Hunter lowered himself down on the bench, casually placing his hand over yours. If you weren't so nervous, you would've been very flushed. "What does it say?"

You gave him the letter, and he took it. His eyes moving backing and forth reading it. It seemed with every word, his face has gotten paler and paler. "He wants to talk to you?" Hunter asked in a hushed voice. His hand squeezed yours instinctively. "You can't go. He knows that you helped me sneak down to his study..."

And he knows that I asked you to come live with me in the Saccharine Isles. The way he wrote it...Like he knew I wasn't frustrated because Hunter being grounded, but frustrated because of the way Belos treats him...and why else would he ask you to meet him alone?

You glared at the ground. "Hunter, I think I should go.." You said biting back venom.

He hastily took off his mask, his eyes widening in shock and fear. "What? Don't! He's gonna h-"

"It'll be more suspicious if I don't show up." You said cutting him off. "If I don't show up he'll know that I was trying to avoid him."

"But still, he wants you to go alone. I don't feel comfortable with that." Hunter said softly.

"You can wait outside the door, if I yell you come in. If I don't, wait for me to come out then leave."

Hunter took a deep breath. "Okay."

Belos can hurt me all he wants...but if he lays a hand on Y/n...I don't care who he is to me...he's going to regret it... Hunter let go of your hand, balling his fist, glaring at his lap.

You touched his arm. "I'll be fine, Hunter."

You knocked on the throne door and saw Kikimora open it. "Ah, Mx. Y/n. Just on time." She said narrowing her eyes. "The Emperor has been waiting for you."

You don't look behind you, but you know Hunter is hiding behind a pillar, staff in his hand. Throne room door shuts, but what you weren't expecting was Kikimora to lock it with her magic.
