Hunter waited for the emperor to go to his throne room before heading downstairs to the basement. 

He slipped through the the doors, clicking them shut. He grabbed a lantern and carefully went down the stairs. 

Hunter asked you to tell the Emperor that he was sick. Currently, Kikimora and a random guard was standing by his uncle. 

That random guard was you. Your job? Keep the emperor from going down in the basement. If you couldn't stop him, you had this bewitched necklace that buzzes to a twin necklace when you spin the stone around the bronze part.

Hunter had the other around his neck.

He reached the bottom of the steps and saw the portal. Wasn't really a surprise. Hunter headed past it and to his uncle's study. He opened the door and stepped in, shutting it behind him. 

He looked around and saw some messily stacked papers and headed toward it.

I guess I'll start here. I better hurry.

Why. Why hasn't the Emperor moved once? You thought nervously. 

You looked at Kikimora who looked forward nervously. You glanced down at her hands which fidget. You glanced at the Emperor who doesn't even look like he's breathing. You saw Kikimora look at you and you turned forward. 

Something's not right. Hunter...Get out of there! Grab anything and leave!

Your finger hesitate on the necklace. Maybe you were overreacting? No. No. Doesn't matter if you were or not, Hunter could be in danger.

Your thumb twitches and you push it against the stone and spun it.
