Alone in a crowd

chapter 4

   Astra^

  Time passed slowly. There was only so much my mind could do to keep me occupied in a room void of anything. My legs cramped and fell asleep from my lack of movement but I did nothing. 'I don't deserve comfort' I told myself. 'I hurt him' Tears welled up in my eyes but I quickly pushed them back down. 'Monsters don't cry'

     Footsteps sounding outside the room caused my head to snap towards the door. I braced myself to who it could be. Perhaps they were sending me to prison realizing how much of a monster I truly was.

     Finally the door opened and revealed....Kai? Why was she here? Was she going to send Mr away? Was it something to do with Asher? Was he okay? I looked up at her, waiting for her to reveal the answer to my internal thoughts.

     She looked tired but as we locked eyes she sent me a smile.
     "You've got another chance." She said. My eyes must have shown my shock. That was certainly not what I was expecting. "Come on, we need to get you back to your cabin and," She looked around the room disgust clear on her face, "out of this place."

     She held out her hand to help me up causing me to hesitantly take it. She had given me another chance, surely I could trust her a little. Unless she was lying that is. We made our way back to the cabin before she left back to whatever she had been doing.

     I sat on my bunk or well... bunks to start a plan. 'What could I even say to him, to them? Surely they hate me. I mean how could they not? Was this the reason that they gave me another chance? So that they could get their revenge against me?' I flopped down on the bed.

     'If they try to hurt me I won't be able to control myself. I can't hurt them again.' I had the urge to bang my head into a wall as I realized what I had done. How could have I been so foolish as to let myself have feelings for them?!

     'It's fine, they definitely hate me anyway, I just need to focus on keeping myself under control.'

     As if on cue Astra and Asher walked into the room. My fists clenched as I saw the damage that I had caused. Always I climbed back down onto the floor, preparing the physical and mental beating that was no doubt soon to come.

     "I'm sorry about this morning." Asher said spoke. My head shot up in surprise. This seems to be happening a lot today. My eyebrows knit together in confusion. 'Is he trying to trick me so he can take me by surprise?'

     "Why are you sorry, you're the one who got beat up not me." I replied. He simply smiled at me before replying,
     "Yeah, but I should've known better. No one that's here has a good past. They told us that you were a fighter to so I should've known not to wake you up like that."

     We fell into silence after that, not a heavy one though, it was...comfortable? Eventually a movie was turned on Asher and Astra cuddling up on the bunk to watch it. It'd been a long time since I had watched a movie, my ADHD making it hard to concentrate long enough. However I still turned my head towards the screen  taking note of the familiar character of Lilo and Stitch as I drifted off into oblivion.
