Everything was dark, everything was calm and everything was peaceful. For once.

"Hello!" an unfamiliar male voice shouted.

My body felt heavy... wait I have a body? I'm alive?

My body jolted up in shock and gasp escaped my lips.

My eyes landed  on an old man, with a look of worry dancing across his face and sweat glistening on his skin, he looked to be around 50-60 years old with kind eyes but clearly exhausted by the heat.

The sun was still high in the sky and the weather hot. My mind was hazy from being abruptly woken up that I just stared at the old man.

He cleared his throat "I'm sorry dear, I didn't mean to shock you. You've fallen asleep in the meadow in this heat and it's afternoon. Run along your parents are probably worrying." He stated and chuckled to himself as if reminiscing a memory.

I couldn't think and just stared at the kind man, my ability to form comprehendible sentences was thrown out my head. He looked surprised by the lack of response that he must have been expecting and continued.

"Go on home child." He insisted as if he was in a hurry then he turned around to get back to his wagon.

I had just noticed he had a merchants wagon with two horses waiting and huffing for their owner to come back. I gathered my strength and stood up following him as quickly as I could, my mind had become less hazy all recollection of previous scenes and memories came flooding back to the current moment, it made me feel dizzy. I felt tired and a turmoil of emotions.

This may be my ticket to my freedom...to prove myself.

"Sir wait!" I shouted he didn't hear "Sir wait!" I repeated.

"I don't have anywhere to go. I know you don't know me but please allow me to come with you." I begged.

He nodded and surprisingly said nothing and allowed me to sit and go with him to whether.

I appreciated the new landscapes, fields with small daisies and a farm full of animals we passed with friendly people welcoming and waving at us, well at the man that they must know.

"I'm Albert and welcome to town." He announced as we reached an archway with large letters that read EMBERCREST.

"Thank you Sir Albert, I'm Astra." I uttered as I took everything in.

This was the start to my new beginning.
