JAKE

Why did I do that? Of course, she is not going to trust me. I also don't trust her. It was dangerous to talk to her. But after Hannah sent her number, I knew she would be important. I just don't know how or why. I checked her. There was nothing that connected her to Hannah. So why her? There is nothing special about her. When I discovered that her family died in a car accident, I felt bad for her. But other than that, she seemed normal, usual. Yet something about her made me uncomfortable. I looked at her photos online over and over again. I was fairly certain she was never in Duskwood. She seemed like a nice person, she had a pretty smile. But it was also intimidating in a sense. I couldn't explain.

All I knew was that she was clean. She didn't abduct Hannah. Whatever the reason was, she was involved somehow. It was only wise to keep her close. I also needed someone to communicate with Hannah's close circle. I believe some of them, or at least one of them is involved. But I have no clue. Maybe she could help me with it. Why would she? If I was going to find Hannah, I had to trust Oryn. She was the key. To what exactly, I did not know. I had to find Hannah.

I have already uploaded Nymos to Oryn's phone before I contacted her. If she was going to be involved, I had to secure our conversations. It is dangerous for me to even talk to her. At some point, she connected her phone to her computer. That was stupid of her and luck for me. I now had access to her computer.

The good thing about this era was that everything was accessible. The bad thing was that everything was accessible. I had access to her camera, both on her phone and her computer. I knew this was wrong, it felt wrong. But I had to be sure. I had to know she had absolutely no involvement. She is a journalist she would understand. Hopefully... I wasn't some pervert, I was not going to constantly stalk her but I decided to check her reaction after my call. It was a video call... How stupid was that? I could have just called her normally. Or just texted her. It didn't have to be a video call. That probably freaked her out.

Surprisingly, she seemed fine. Her friend came to visit. Well, at least one of us had friends. Her house seemed normal. It was lucky for me that she had her laptop in her living room. A slasher? Really? I assumed they would eventually talk about the case, about me... But they didn't. Oryn just said she was tired. Her friend didn't believe her but she didn't push it. Good job Oryn!

I stopped watching a few minutes later. Again, I am not some stalker. I won't do that again. I just had to be sure.

I did it again. I checked on her again. After a couple of hours of research for Hannah, I felt tired, depressed. I needed some distraction. It was too dangerous for me to leave the cheap hotel room I was currently occupying. My life was dangerous. Oryn's was not. I needed an escape. So I turned her computer's camera back on. To my surprise, it was in a different room. An office of some sort. Does this girl never shuts her laptop off? There was nothing to see. I could see the view outside, some trees, some greenery. It was refreshing. Oryn was not there. Not that I was wondering. I stayed there for a few minutes and eventually gave up. It was nice to see her view. But I had work to do. Another sleepless night was waiting for me. Tomorrow, I had to change locations again. I hated this.
