He opens his mouth, possibly to question my ignorance concerning my answer, when the buzzer suddenly starts vibrating towards the edge of the table.
"Oh! I'll um go get our order..." Haneul quickly gets up and deftly swipes the buzzer off the table before it could fall to the ground and quickly goes to the counter. Leaving only me and my thoughts.
And you know how wonderful of a combination that is. (You see, that was sarcasm, you know, because me and my thoughts equals complete discord? No? Alright nevermind...)
I shift in my chair, bounce my leg, then lightly bang my head on the table.
Only this morning did I assume I would live this boring yet normal lifestyle, with my annoying parents, my awesome friends, my boring school. I had literally doomed myself to live a single life after the last incident for God sakes.
I sigh, suddenly tired.
Why now, of all times, does my life have to flip me around like a pancake? Although, with this load of bullcrap thrown at me, it really can't get any worse, so I'll just have to deal with this, somehow.
The universe hates me.
No sooner had I resolved to let Haneul down gently, regrettably, when the cafe's bell rings as someone enters. I turn my head, too mentally exhausted to lift it, and widen my eyes.
No no no no, i-it's just my mind playing tricks on me or something, right? O-or maybe it's someone else...?
There, slowly striding through the cafe was Ezra Caddel. His purple streaked black hair, dark clothing making him stand out even more than he usually does in the otherwise bright and cheerful cafe. He scans the cafe then heads toward the girl at the counter, probably to order.
I turn my head, still too tired to raise it off the table that probably has all kinds of germs and such, and sigh. Where's Haneul with that order? I'm hungry...
I try to clear out my mind through breathing exercises I saw on a meditation show once, when a shadow looms over me. That's funny, did the light fade out or something?
I sit up, ready to inform the girl at the counter that the bulb went out (and possibly see what's holding up Haneul) when I look up to see Ezra standing uncomfortably close to me.
"Uh, w-what's up...?" I stutter as my voice cracks a bit.
Ezra just stares at me for a good few seconds, then opens his mouth to say something when a voice interrupts him.
"Is something wrong, Waylen?"
I turn my head to the other side of the table and see Haneul standing with a tray full of our orders and a slight frown. I look back and forth, from Ezra's stone-like expression to Haneul's slightly worried yet ticked off one.
"U-um, Haneul! Thanks for taking our orders, what took you so long anyways?" I quickly took the tray, placing it on the table without dropping anything. (thank God my clumsy ass didn't)
Before he could reply, I quickly cut him off, "It's okay though, come sit down so I can see how great this cafe is" I point to his chair, indicating him to sit down, which he does, and turn to Ezra.
"As you can see we're a bit um preoccupied at the moment, whatever you had to say can wait until tomorrow or something, right?" I put on my best smile and pray to God that Ezra takes the hint and goes while my one brain cell is still working after Haneul's mishap before.
His stone-like expression cracks a bit as he frowns and his eyes flick from me to Haneul, then sighs irritably. "Do you even know what time it is?"
Now it was my turn to frown, "Why would I care about the time...?"
