CHAPTER 7: Boots on Glass

One year ago...

Agent Arizona had been retrieved from the Mother of Invention by his old squad in a prowler-class vessel under the name UNSC Apollo to assist his former squad member Darren Graften on the surface of Harvest.

Arizona stepped away from the observation window and walked back to the hangar area, where his team had finished readying their gear. The intercom rang, and the female voice came over the comm again.

"We have entered geosynchronous orbit above the landing zone. The optimal time for your insertion on to the planet is in ten minutes and closing." The ODSTs grabbed their packs and weapons and started walking towards the Pelican. Zona stepped in after them and made sure they were all strapped in to the troop deck while he himself stepped into the cockpit section and strapped into the pilot's seat. He went through all of the necessary pre-flight checks: spooling the mini-gun, arming the missile pods, revving the engines, and arming counter measure systems. The Pelican was cleared for takeofff as the Prowler decloaked, opening its only bay door. Arizona revved the engines once more and accelerated, blasting out of the door and down to the planet's surface.

Meanwhile, on the surface, soldiers wearing black and red armor were all laughing around a small fire with their helmets off. They were Insurrectionists. One figure approached the fire. He wore standard ODST gear, but with shoulder pads from Hayabusa assault armor and a modified ODST helmet that housed an all-black visor and two comm antennae, one on each ear. His shoulder pads were all blood red, as well as the single stripe across the center of his helmet and a singular stripe down his chestpiece. Across his back was a katana sheathe that housed a blood-red katana blade. He removed his helmet, revealing dark crimson eyes, stubbles of a black beard, and a black mohawk cut short to his head. Darren Graften, a mercenary for hire, has sided officially with the Insurrection unbeknownst to Arizona and his team. And they had an ambush waiting for the Pelican now en route to their location.
