6: The Test

After leaving the Rengoku residence, you decided to take the train to a nearby town and walk the rest of the way. As you were buying the ticket, you realized you didn't say goodbye to Kyojuro. The heat of the argument caused you to storm out of the house. Sighing, you had nothing to do but continue your journey. It wasn't until you sat down and looked out the window that you saw Kyojuro.
His red and orange hair tied in a half-up half-down ponytail. Seeing him made you tear up a little, knowing he defended you, it caused the love you had for him to grow stronger
You touched the window with the edges of your fingertips. "Kyojuro!"
"Y/N! I AM SORRY ABOUT EARLIER!"
He slammed himself on the window, connecting your hands with his, or at least against the window.
But before he could say more the train started moving. He started running and said
"GOOD LUCK Y/N! I HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR YOU!"
He stopped and gave you a thumbs up with a bright- encouraging smile.
You smiled back at him. You returned to your original position and said,
'Kyojuro, I won't let you down.'

Once you left the train and walked towards Mt. Fujikasane, you were greeted with the sight and smell of wisteria flowers.
The entire atmosphere didn't feel real, how could a place so beautiful hold such dangerous creatures.
Your walking came to a stop when you saw two girls with stoic looks on their faces. One had black hair and the other had white.
Their faces were strange, they looked too mature for being little girls. Are they even human? Your thoughts were interrupted when you feel someone's presence right next to yours.
You turned and saw a young boy with short maroon hair, he wore a fox mask and blue kimono. He looked around in awe, then locked eyes with you.
"Oh Hello! Isn't this such a sight!" As he spoke he looked around.
"Yes, it is."
"My name is Tanjiro Kamado, it's nice to meet you!"
Tanjiro's eyes were sincere, there wasn't a single evil thought behind those eyes. Looking at him made you feel at ease. This kid had some kind of hypnotic power, you didn't know how long you stared into his kind gaze.
It wasn't until the girls started to talk that you regained your composure.
"Hello everyone, at the top of this mountain lies demons, and without wisteria flowers, they are able to roam free. If you survive for seven days then you will be granted a nichirin sword along with your uniform and Kasugai crow."
Both of the girls finished each other's sentences, deep down hearing them speak made you nervous.
After they finished explaining, we were free to venture off on our own. You looked at Tanjiro and smiled, "It's nice to meet you too! My name is Y/N L/N, i hope to see you after the exam!"
He responded with a warm smile, "Likewise, good luck." Then he ran to a different part of the mountain. You looked straight ahead of you, might as well go forward.
'Let's kill some demons' you thought as a grin formed on your face.

It's been three days, so far you've killed 4 demons. It seems like every where you go, there's always one following you. To your surprise, you haven't heard or seen any other participants. What if no one had survived? Uh oh, that can't be right, there has to be someone!
Your thoughts stopped when you heard a loud noise. It was a scream. You ran towards the noise and saw someone about to be eaten by a demon.
"HELP ME! YOU! PLEASE!"
His face displayed panic and fear. Tears rolled down his face and onto the demons hand. You had to admit this demon was huge. Probably bigger than the ones you fought before. You clenched your sword and jumped in the air and onto a nearby tree. You managed to confuse the demon, using this as an opportunity you pushed yourself from the tree, took a deep breath and said " Flame breathing, third form: blazing universe! You used all of your force to cut the arms of the demon. Soon enough the arms fell to the ground along with the boy. You landed on the ground and took this as an opportunity to slash the demons neck. You climbed onto the demons back, jumped, and used the first form: unknowing fire which killed the demon in an instant.
The boy looked at you trembling with fear.
"Thank you! Thank you!" He bowed down as he continued to sob.
You blushed, you've never been in this situation before. You walked towards him and patted him on the back. "Hey, no problem! Are you okay?"
He glanced up at you, "yes, yes, I'm okay, I just can't do this anymore." He stood up and began to look for an exit before he stopped. You frowned, this boy was just going to give up, how sad.
"Wait, how... how did you move so quickly, I... I wasn't even able to see you slash the demon." He said with a shaking voice.
You smiled, "well, my trainer was.... a good one."
He look at you for a moment, "oh." After he said those words he ran away, leaving you alone with your thoughts.

Today was the day you would return home. As you walked back to where you first started, you saw..... little to no demon slayers. You looked for the boy you saved, but he wasn't there. You felt sorry for him, hopefully his death wasn't painful but quick.
You decided to close your eyes until you heard a voice that awoke you.
"Y/N! Hello!"
It was Tanjiro. He ran towards you and greeted you with a warm and relieved smile.
"Hey Tanjiro! I'm glad you made it!"
"Same here!"
Your conversation came to a pause when you heard someone crying.
"OH MY GOD! I SURVIVED! THAT WAS SO SCARY!"
It was a kid with bright yellow hair, snot was dripping down his nose.
The girls spoke again, ignoring the boy's cries.
"Congratulations, you passed the Final Selection Exam. You will now receive your sword, uniform, and crow.
Each of us walked up and chose our sword.
The odd thing about your crow was that it wasn't a crow. But an owl. The same goes for the boy with the yellow hair, he had a tiny sparrow.
At this rate all you wanted to do was be embraced by the arms of Kyojuro. You blushed at the sudden thought, but it was true.
After everything was done, you said your goodbyes to Tanjiro and hoped to see him again.
Now all you had to do was go home.
At last.

Wow, this is a longggg chapter. It's been such a hectic week sorry I couldn't update :(((
I suck at describing  actions scenes so hopefully that little snippet was okay. Anyways,  thank you for reading :)))
