12: Jealousy

You impatiently waited outside the infirmary as the nurses attended to Kyojuro. You walked back and forth, your heart racing.... 'What happened to him?!'
One of the nurses offered you some food, grinning, you thanked the woman and grabbed the delicious-looking sushi on the plate. Bouncing your foot you felt worried about Kyojuro. You tried not to show it, but deep down you were scared.

-Flashback-

After you and Kyojuro came back from having lunch he was immediately assigned another mission. About a week later, someone approached you in a nurse uniform.
"Mam! Hello!"
You put down the baby rabbit you were holding and brought your attention to the young girl.
"Oh, hello?"
"I'm sorry to disturb you, but are you by any chance related to Rengoku-San?"
Uh oh, what's wrong this time.
"Yes, I'm his wife."
The nurse held her hands together, slightly shaking.
"Oh okay then... uh...he is currently being hospitalized at a hospital nearby.... and he's asked for your presence."
It annoyed you on how this woman was blushing at you, why was she blushing?
You glanced at your surroundings as if to find an answer.
"Of course! Lead the way!"
You smiled at the woman who responded with an awkward hum.
A few minutes into the walk, you decided to break the silence.
"So, may I ask why he's in the hospital?"
The girl jumped up, startled at the sudden sound of your voice.
"Oh... ah.. Um.. Well we found him injured in a village. He had deep cuts and was badly bruised everywhere. So yeah that is the main reason why we are... caring for him."
What mission was he assigned, aw, he must be in a lot of pain.
"Um I have a question"
You raised your brow," what is it?"
"Are you sure you're married to Rengoku-San?"
You suddenly stopped and turned towards the girl with a glare.
Today was not your day huh.
You forced a smile, "Yes, I'm more than sure."

-End of Flashback-

You cringed at the thought of how you behaved towards the girl earlier, you were hungry and you haven't eaten anything until now.
Closing your eyes, you bit into the delicious piece of sushi.
"Hmm.."
The noise of a sliding door broke you from your trance.
A nurse stepped out and greeted you with a smile,
"Hi! Are you the wife of Rengoku-San?"
You sat up from the table, "Yes I am."
"Alright then, please follow me."
As you walked, you noticed how this infirmary was different than the butterfly estate. It appeared to be more.... Expensive. However there was a side of the hospital that looked run down and unkempt.
Why does that side look awful while this side looks the opposite?
"Okay! Here is his room! You are welcome anytime and your allowed to stay overnight if you wish!"
The older lady pointed to the room Kyojuro was in.
"Is he going to be okay?"
She smiled, "Of course! He is a fast healer! However, can you please try and ask him how he got those injuries, he hasn't been compliant on answering."
For a while you forgot that you were in your demon slayer uniform, and Kyojuro was on a mission as well.
"Yes, I will try!"
As the lady walked away, you slid the shoji to the side.
What you saw was.... disturbing.

Kyojuro was nervously laughing as a group of female nurses crowded around him.
"Oh! Rengoku! Your such a tease."
"Rengoku- San! Your so strong!"
"Rengoku, let's get some sake when your better!"
You balled up your fist, these nurses are something else.
"Uh- hahaha... ladies...Thank you for your kind words, but my heart already belongs to someone.
"Aww...."
"Hang out with me and I'll change your mind~~"
Yeah- you weren't going to continue hearing this.
"Kyojuro!"
Everyone's attention was at you.
"My love... pride... and joy! How are you feeling?"
You pushed the women next to him aside and hugged him. "Muah- Muah- MUAH-"
You kissed him several times on his face in front of the girls.
"Y/N! YOUR HERE!"
Kyojuro held your hand and kissed it.
"Everyone meet my beautiful wife! Y/N!"
The nurses looked at you, some of them conveyed looks of annoyance, sadness, and anger.
"Oh- I didn't know you had a wife— um I'll be on my way now, call me if you need me."
Once they all left, Kyojuro sighed, "Oh- those nurses wouldn't let me rest... I'm sorry you had to see that Y/N..."
He laid his head back on his pillow and closed his eyes.
"err- thank you for taking them away from me, oh what I would give to sleep for at least 7..8...9............hours......"
You placed your hand on his forehead, he was profusely sweating, his gown was drenched with sweat.
It was silent until your stomach growled.... Shoot, you had forgotten to eat!
Although you were hungry, you weren't going to leave Kyojuro.
You stared at his face then his chest moving up and down slowly. Laying your head on his chest, you felt his heartbeat. Unknowing tears fell from your eyes and onto his clothes, "Kyojuro- I love you... so ... much."

"HAHA- well after my wife wakes up we will be taking our leave! "
What- how did you end up taking over the entire hospital bed?! You leaned on your elbows and looked  for the sound of Kyojuro's voice. Turning to the left, you were faced head to head with Kyojuro.
"Ah- you scared me!"
"Aww..... my bad, I just wanted a closer look at your flawless features. How did you sleep?"
You blushed at the close proximity, "I slept fine..."
"Excellent! Now how about we leave this terrible hospital" he tried to attempt at whispering but failed as the nurses looked at him offended.
You giggled, "Yeah I agree, let's go!"

Walking out of the hospital, you and Kyojuro let out a deep breath. You looked back at the hospital doors, hopefully this would be the last time you even set foot on that hospital.
"Kyojuro, next time you get injured please don't go to that hospital."
"HAHA- Oh definitely never again."
Both of you laughed as the trees swayed in the direction of the wind. It was calm, moments like these didn't happened often.
"Y/N, I was wondering if you wanted to-"

"Hoot-Hoot-Hoot"

You turned your head towards the direction of the  sound, "Oh Hi there!"
"Y/N... you have a mission at Tsuzumi Mountain. Three other demon slayers will be there to assist you. Be cautious, you could be dealing with a lower rank demon. "
The owl then disappeared into the darkness of the woods. You were glad to finally be going on another mission, could you possibly face a lower moon?
Thinking about it excited you, "Kyojuro did you hear that! Another lower moon demon!"
You squealed until Kyojuro put his hands on both of your arms. "It is very exciting, but please be careful. I don't want you getting hurt again."
Your smile slowly faded, "Of course."
As you were about to run off you suddenly remembered what Kyojuro was going to tell you.
"Oh- what were you going to say earlier?"
Kyojuro cheeks became tinted with a light pink color, "That! I will tell you when you return.... SAFE AND SOUND!
You nodded your head as a response, you weren't entirely sure about safe and sound, but you definitely aren't going to come back as a demon.

Walking in the forest was calming, the stars shined brightly and the crickets were chirping a song.
Everything was fine until you heard the sound of a voice that made you want to cut your ears off.
"FIGHT ME GONPACHIRO KAMABOKO!"

'Are you serious'.......
