Chapter 2
The taxi pulled up in a parking space just outside the camp, from what I could see, the place looked big. I noticed a bunch of other girls walking towards a building which had double doors and a couple of windows, it wasn't a big building but it wasn't small either.
I paid the driver and took my bags out of the boot before he pulled off leaving me standing there, staring at the camp. I began walking towards the doors where everybody else seemed to be heading, I didn't know where I was suppose to go so best to follow the crowd, right?
On my short walk across the field to the building I noticed a block of cabins to my left, which I'm guessing is where we'll be staying. Behind the cabins didn't look very interesting, it was mostly trees. There was another building to the right of the one I was heading to, and there was also a few signs pointing here and there, I just couldn't be bothered reading them.
"Watch it," a voice snapped as a hard figure knocked me to the ground.
I huffed, standing to my feet and licking my bags back up. I look behind me and the guy who knocked into me was already far away before I even got chance to say a word. I turned my attention back to the building in front, walking through the brown double doors, my bags hanging off my shoulder. As soon as the doors slammed shut everyone's eyes fixed on me. I ignored them and soon enough they went back to talking. I turned my attention to what was in the room, it was basically just a decent sized hall. To the left there was a mirror covering the whole wall, there was a table on right labeled "signing in", and straight ahead there were at least 15 females either sat chattering to one another or sat alone quietly.
I made my way to the table, a short woman with tied up blonde hair smiled in my direction, "name?"
"Jade Harris." I replied
She gave me a single nod and skimmed down a list of names in front of her. "Jade Harris," she repeated, tapping her pen on the paper.
"If you could just sign here then sit over with everybody else." I nodded taking the pen out of her hand and signing the paper before walking towards the group sitting on the floor.
I dumped my bags on the ground and sat in an empty space near the group. Shortly after I sat down, a tall, bulky man walked through the door. He looked towards the group, then to the blonde woman at the table, she nodded at him and his attention focused back onto us.
"Welcome to Xtreme Fitness Camp! I'm James, this is Lara, and we are the founders of this camp." His voice echoed throughout the hall.
"For the next four weeks you will all be divided into groups for different fitness sessions, you will also have individual fitness sessions with our instructors, who should actually be here right now but we have a few missing," Lara stopped, looking to near the table where two men, who I'm guessing were some of the instructors, stood.
Lara carried on talking but I zoned out, looking around the group of girls once again. Some were young, some were in their twenties. The camp was for 16-25 year olds so it was a mixed group of different ages, me fitting somewhere in the middle being 19 and all. There were girls who looked physically fit already, as if they were used to keeping fit. There were two women I noticed who looked big, not overweight, but big. All in all it was a mixed group, everyone here for different reasons.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when I heard my name being called. My head shot to James who was looking around the group.
"I'm Jade." I spoke, my voice sounding confident.
He nodded, "you will be in cabin four."
I smiled in reply and zoned out again as he called out everybody else's names.
* * * * *
After being in that hall for just over an hour, we finally got to leave and I was now making my way towards the cabins. Back in the hall after we got told our cabin numbers, we done some sort of circle time with Lara and two of the instructors who actually shown up, Caleb and Matty. We had to sit in a circle and "get to know eachother", by that I mean we had to tell everybody our name, age, why we came here and an interesting fact about ourselves. I didn't recognise anybody, but I was glad because I'm pretty sure during these four weeks here I'll make a fool of myself half the time and I wouldn't want anyone I know to see me trying to exercise.
Finally, after our little introduction was over, I was now here, stood in front of cabin four. I walked in, noticing I was the first there meaning I got to choose which bed I wanted. There were three beds all together so I'm guessing there's three people per room. One bed was to the left of the room, one to the right and one at the back. There was a small set of draws next to each bed and a bathroom on the right of the room, also a clock hanging in between the door and the window. I decided on the bed at the back of the room so I was out of the way. I dumped my bags on the floor and flung myself onto the bed, it was awfully uncomfortable.
"Settling in already?" A voice made my head snap up.
A short, skinny brunette stood next to the bed on the right, she looked friendly and was smiling straight at me as if waiting for an answer.
"Yeah, these beds aren't comfy at all though." I laughed slightly.
She laughed too, putting her bags on the bed and walking towards me. "Jenna." She held out her hand for me to shake and I gladly complied, "Jade."
"I'm Emily." A quiet sound came from behind Jenna.
We both looked towards the door and saw a blonde shuffling her feet and looking down at the floor before looking back up at us. She wasn't stick thin like Jenna, but she wasn't fat either, she was similar to me, curvy and skinny.
"Nice to meet you." Jenna smiled.
I nodded, "hi."
She smiled awkwardly before sitting on the last bed. Jenna turned back to me, smiling and then walking towards her bed.
"So we've got to meet on the field outside at half twelve?" Jenna confirmed.
I nodded, looking up at the clock. It was twelve fifteen now and that leaves fifteen minutes until we have to meet up with everybody else. My stomach was grumbling, realising it was dinner time. I opened one of my bags and pulled out a tub of Original Pringles. I know I'm at a fitness camp but I had to sneak some snacks in, right? By some I mean only one tub of Pringles and two Freddos.
Fifteen minutes soon passed and we were all stood outside on the field. James and Lara were stood in front of the group along with Caleb, Matty, and another instructor who introduced himself as Ben.
"Okay let's get straight to it. When I shout your name, I will also shout a number between 1 and 6, whichever number I shout you should go to that group. There are only four instructors here, including myself and excluding James, there should be another two but god knows where they have gotten to." Lara glared at James and he just shrugged.
"We're here, chill." A familiar voice laughed from behind the group, we all turned and our heads followed a lad and a girl who were holding hands, walking towards the other instructors.
That voice sounded exactly like the one I heard when I was knocked off my feet. Arsehole!
"Ali, Ashton, my office after this." James spoke sternly.
A few snickers came from the group of girls and Ashton I'm guessing just smirked and shook his head.
Lara and James began to shout out names and numbers, me being one of the last to be called.
"Jade Harris, group 6." I looked to James, then to the group of instructors. I made my way over to group six, and the instructor was the girl who came late, can't remember her name.
She beamed a bright smile in my direction and I smiled back, just to be polite. After all the names had been called, we were now in six separate groups and James had now disappeared. Each group was huddled in a circle, our instructor who I remembered was called Ali began talking about the fitness activity we were going to be doing first.
I can't wait.
A/N: I'm sorry this part isn't particularly good and I know it isn't long, I've had a lot of college work to do lately as I'm coming to the end of my course so yeah I'll try and update more often and I'll make sure the next chapters are longer!
