I was about to go to sleep later that night, after watching some TV once I had my shower and brushed my teeth, when not long after I turned the light off, I saw something pass in front of my bedroom door, but thought it was just my mom or stepfather passing my room, so I thought nothing of it, rolled over on my other side, and tried to go to sleep. However, as I tried to close my eyes to drift off to sleep, I suddenly heard my name being whispered, but I knew it wasn't my mom or stepfather, because they had gone to bed already.
When I heard the whisper, it wasn't a quick one, it sounded long, and drawn out, and had a touch of an echo to it. I heard my name whispered twice, before I dared to look to see what was going on. I finally turned over to where the whispers had come from, and what I saw left me in shock, so shocked in fact, that I felt frozen. What I saw, was a golden light, that formed a sort of spotlight in the corner of my room, that looked like it was coming from the ceiling.
I sat up and watched this light for a couple minutes, when I saw something begin to form in it. My jaw hit the floor, because before I knew it, I saw Steve's ghost standing in the spotlight, his hands folded in front of him with his head downward. Finally, his head lifted to where he was looking straight ahead at me, but it wasn't one of those slow, creepy head lifts like you'd see in a horror movie, Steve just lifted his head normally, and a peaceful smile crossed his face, where suddenly, all the fear I had within me melted away.
Steve took a couple steps toward me, with the golden spotlight moving with him as he walked. Then, Steve stopped a foot away from my bed, looked at me calmly, then he began to speak.
"Mike, you must not continue to mourn my death my friend." Steve said softly, "It was just my time to be with God. Instead of mourning my death, it's now time to celebrate the life that we shared together as friends while I was still earthbound. I will be waiting for you with open arms when your turn comes to be with God. Be warned while earthbound, a change is about to come over Adam, he's going to make a change in his life for the worst, that sadly, no one will be able to stop."
"He's not going to die is he?" I asked.
"I see no death in his future for some time to come, but this change will take him farther away from you for good. Let Luke be your guide to find the man you are searching for to call your own, Luke will be the answer to all your problems, but he is only going to help you, he is not the one you will be calling your own."
With that, Steve's spotlight dimmed, as well as he himself. My room went dark again as if nothing ever happened. My stepfather lightly knocked on my door to check on me.
"Mike? Everything okay in there pal?" my stepfather asked.
"Yes sir." I replied, "I just woke myself up talking in my sleep is all."
"Alright buddy, get some sleep, you have to be up early tomorrow for school."
With that, I rolled back over on my side, trying to drift off to sleep. As I lay there trying to drift off, I saw a shooting star out my window gliding across the night sky. I took it as Steve telling me he was okay and watching over me now. I was curious what this deal was with Adam, but was hoping that Steve would be wrong with what he was telling me. Unfortunately, the next day, Adam would pull a stunt on his mother, that would leave her out of her mind with worry, and me without a ride to school, meaning that I would have to spend a day at home, with no way to school until my mom could get my transportation figured out again.
Adam was about to cause a real mess, a mess that no one he knew would appreciate.
