I wake up to Pansy pouncing on me, squealing.
"Holy fuck, Pansy Parkinson, get off me!" I growl, shoving the girl off of me.
"It's finally here! Ro, it's the day of the dance, get up now!" She squeals in my face.
Groaning, I glance at the clock on my bedside table, the time reading 8:00 a.m. I growl again, forcefully shoving Pansy off of my bed, causing her to tumble onto the rugged floor of our dorm.
I sit up, rubbing my eyes. "You bitch, we literally have all day! Why the hell did you wake me up this early?" I shout at her. Sometimes she could be unbelievable. Like right now, after waking me up at eight in the morning, on a saturday, to get ready for a dance at six, tonight!
"Oh, shut up, you're not that mad really. Just grumpy! Now up!" she retorts, ripping the quilts off of my body.
I reach for the first thing I can grab and chuck it at her. Of course it does nothing, as the only thing in reach was a throw pillow.
Dodging out of the way, Pansy picks up the pillow and throws it back at me. "Up!"
"No, Pansy!" I shout, sitting up and dragging my quilt back over me, tucking the corners under me so she can't rip it away, again.
I hear her huff and I can imagine her standing at the end of my bed with her hands on her hips, a pout on her face. I was tempted to look as it could be amusing, but I had a point to make.
She walks away and I hear the door open. "Fine, Rowan. Just know I tried to save you from this fate." The door closes.
Too tired to even try to figure out what she meant, I snuggle deeper into my bed, drifting back to sleep.
I'm just about to fall asleep when I hear the door open, feel the covers torn off and feel myself being lifted up and out of my bed. I let out a shriek as I'm tossed over someone's shoulder.
Ah. She's gotten Draco to force me up. Smart. I think. He walks a few feet away from my bed and puts me down.
Crossing my arms over my chest, I glare at him. "Asshole."
Draco smirks while Pansy laughs at me again from the doorway. "I'll wait for you in the common room, Ro, hurry up!" She says triumphantly. With that, she leaves us alone.
"You're not supposed to be up here, you know," I point out, walking away from Draco, towards Pansy and I's closet. Pulling open the door, I step in, grabbing a blue sweater from Pansy's side of the closet. She won't care, I know that. We borrow each other's clothes all the time.
"Whatever," Draco responds, walking into the closet with me. "Jesus christ, how much stuff do you have in here? And why's it so damn big?"
I glance over my shoulder at him. "Pansy enchanted it to be as big as we needed. She always brings a shit ton of stuff, have you ever seen her wear the same thing twice?"
Draco chuckles at that. "Now that you mention it, no. She's crazy for having so many clothes though. Who even needs this many?"
I smirk. "Us, apparently. Also don't touch anything, Pansy spent hours in her color coordinating and organizing by size. She'll kill you if anything is out of place."
"Why didn't she just use magic? Wouldn't that have been the logical thing to do?"
"Pansy's insane."
Draco lets out a laugh. "Yeah, you're right about that." He moves towards where I'm taking inventory of our large collection of leggings. He takes the cardigan from my hands and pulls a pair of high-waisted leggings off of the shelf.
"What are you doing?" I ask him as he moves to the opposite side of the closet, looking through our large collection of tank tops. "Should I be worried? Also, didn't I just say don't touch anything?"
Scoffing, Draco doesn't even look over at me. "Relax, I won't mess up Pansy's elaborate organization. Also, have I ever made a poor fashion choice, Rowan?"
I snorted, standing off to the side and let him pick an outfit for me. "Don't disappoint me, Malfoy," I said, leaning against the wall.
After another few moments, Draco has laid out the clothes on my bed and is going through Pansy and I's jewelry collection. "Hm..." I hear him hum to himself as he sorts through the excessive necklace collection. Pulling three of them out, he exits my closet and places them on the dresser.
"Alright, then. Change."
I whip around to look at him. "Excuse you."
"What?"
"Get out!"
"Oh yeah! My bad," He chuckles, heading for the door. "I'll meet you in the common room." Before he closes the door, he glances at me.
I squint at him, crossing my arms over my chest as a sign that I'm waiting for him to fully leave me alone. When he finally closes the door and I hear him walking down the hall, I quickly change.
Glancing at myself in the full-length mirror Pansy and I have propped up in one corner of our room, I examine the outfit, necklaces and all. Satisfied, I head down to meet Pansy and Draco in the common room.
Walking in, I notice that Isobelle, the slytherin girl in our grade who's had a major crush on Draco since our first year, is talking to him in the corner of the room. They're laughing about something, looking each other right in the eyes, too close for my comfort.
I stare at them for a moment before joining Blaise and Theo on the couch.
"What the fuck are they talking about?" I ask, not even bothering to elaborate on who I'm talking about. I know the boys know.
Blaise smirks. "Jealous much?"
I roll my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest. "As if. And it's not as if he didn't just try to see me naked, not ten minutes ago."
"What?" Theo says, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
I look over at Draco. Isobelle's placing her hand on his arm and I make a disgusted face. "Fucking gross," I mutter under my breath. It's only when Blaise kicks my foot from the other couch that I realize I'd been staring.
I glare at him, then glance at Theo, then back at Blaise. "Come with me a sec," I say standing and grabbing Blaise's wrist. He stands and follows me into a hallway close to the Slytherin dungeon entrance.
When we stop, I look at him, a serious look. Blaise raises his eyebrows at me, quizzically.
I take a deep breath, biting my lip before starting. "Ok, so maybe Draco and I have kissed other than the dare."
Blaise, bless him, takes the hint that this is a serious topic and doesn't tease me, though I am absolutely sure he will later.
"I had a feeling, though I didn't say anything because I didn't want to piss you off with prying anymore. But what does this have to do with today? Or right now, rather?" he asks, crossing his arms.
"Come on, Blaise, you know Draco. He doesn't go out of his way to flirt with girls he's barely spoken to, let alone ones he doesn't even like. He's always talking about how annoying he thinks Isobelle is! So what the hell is he doing?" I rant quietly, incase of anyone eavesdropping. "None of it makes sense. What's he doing?"
Blaise thinks for a moment, taking in everything I'd said. After another moment of silence, he spoke. "Did you do something to piss him off? Even unknowingly that you could think of?" He asks.
I shake my head. "No, we were fine this morning. And if I'd pissed him off, there's no way I wouldn't know immediately. This is Draco we're talking about. He's an open book, whether he thinks so or not."
"I don't know, Ro," Blaise says, giving me a look I couldn't quite figure out. "Though, why'd you have to drag me out here to talk about this?"
"It's none of Nott's business, first off. And I didn't want Draco wondering why we were whispering." And because I know Theo still likes me, a lot I think, though I wouldn't say that out loud.
Blaise looks past me, back down the hall, then says, "Why don't we head back, see what Malfoys up to know, ok?"
I nod, but don't say anything.
When we walk back around the corner, Theo's staring in our direction. I send him a small smile while sitting down, feeling slightly bad for leaving him out of the conversation.
Then I looked over to where Draco had been with Isobelle.
They were still there.
Standing barely a foot apart.
I watch as Isobelle giggled like a little girl at something Draco says. Blaise is watching them too and I turn to him and gag, making him laugh.
Draco must have seen me do this as I hear him sigh, audibly from the other side of the room. I roll my eyes.
"What the absolute- Draco get your ass over here!" Pansy shouts as she enters the room, sitting herself next to me, looking pissed. When she turns to me, her expression changes entirely and she smiles, taking my arm in hers, while I just laugh.
"Hello, lovely! I see you're finally up!" She says, smiling brightly, before continuing to scold Draco. "Malfoy, you have three seconds!"
Draco exasperatedly sighs again and walks over, throwing himself in an armchair. I raise my eyebrows at him, though he just stares back, a blank expression.
Pansy jumps into conversation, thoroughly caffeinated and excited about today's events. "Alright, so we never fully discussed how we were doing this whole thing. Are we going as a group, or what?"
"Actually, I was wondering-" Theo started, looking over at me, though Draco cuts him off.
"Rowan will be going with me," he states, plain and simple. We all look over at him, Blaise and Pansy in confusion, Theo in anger and me in annoyance.
I cross my arms, sitting back. "I will? I don't remember receiving any invitation."
Draco crosses his own arms in defiance. "I just asked."
"You didn't ask me anything." I snap, annoyed. "You demanded. I'm not an object, if you want me to go with you you'd better ask," I finish, fed up with him.
Don't get me wrong, part of me was suddenly excited that Draco wanted to go with me and not Isobelle. It shocked me just how excited I was when he said that I was to go with him, but I wouldn't let him have his way by demanding it. He should know by now that he can't get away with the shit he could with almost any other girl with me.
Theo sat forward, looking at me. "Exactly," he starts. "That's precisely why I wanted to ask you to go with me." His eyes are practically begging me to accept his invitation when I meet them.
I saw out of the corner of my eye that Draco and Pansy silently communicated something and they got up and switched spots without a word.
Draco took my hand, causing me to glance at him. I couldn't tell what it was exactly, but there was something in the way his eyes bore into mine, the sudden flash of desperation in the steely gray as he spoke his next words that had me paralyzed. All my irritation flew out the window with just ten simple words.
"Rowan, would you please attend this year's dance with me?"
"Come on Malfoy, I just asked her, mate! What are you-"
"Yes," I practically whisper, cutting Theo off, barely having heard what he said. There was something so enticing about that one moment that there was no way I could deny myself this.
I am accidentally loving Malfoy.
And I could deny it no longer
