Impact. I feel impact on my cheek.

"Wake up, bro! I'm not doing this with you!"

"Ma'am, you can't do that..." another voice says.

I'm a little disoriented. My eyelids are heavy and my mind is a bit foggy.

"Leave me alone or I swear!" the female says.

The voice sounds a bit familiar but I can't quite recognize who it might belong to. Where am I? I hear some shuffling as I battle with my eyelids. I think they might be fighting. The more I listen, the more I become aware of other sounds in my location and where I could possibly be. The beeping sounds and the air inform me that I'm in hospital. I finally manage to open my eyes, blinking a couple of times to adjust my vision. My cheek hurts, but that's not the only part from what I'm feeling. My eyes bulge then I scream. The shuffling stops.

"He's awake!"

I want to cry. I've never felt this amount of pain before. It's gruesome and just horrible. Well, the tears don't seem to want to come. I'm cracking my mind, trying to remember how I got here. I feel a weight on me while I've zoned out.

"You're suffocating the patient, ma'am!"

She slaps me yet again. I look at this crazy woman – like, finally look at her. Then, it finally clicks and I simultaneously click my tongue and divert my eyes.

"We're sorry about this, Mr. Sereo. This female is very aggressive. She threatened to stab our securities when they tried escorting her so we're waiting on the police now. How are you feeling, sir?"

Like hell. I try opening my mouth to speak but no words come out. My throat is dry and a bit painful. I know my voice is going to come out hoarse either way. I clear my throat.

"W...a...t...er," I croak out.

I hate how I sound worse than my housemate. She's the one who gets it for me, not giving the doctor a chance. I don't think I like what I might've gotten myself into with this one. She helps me drink, guiding me as if I'd self-harm. Then, she puts the water back on the bedside table. It's bottled water with a straw that I think she got for me. Did I not tell her to leave that day? I don't even know what day it is or how long I might've been here.

I can see the doctor's lips moving but I have no idea what he's saying nor am I interested.

"When will I be discharged?" I ask, halting his blubbering.

"Can you feel your legs, sir?"

I furrow my eyebrows.

"Why wouldn't I feel my legs?" I ask. "What brought me here?"

"You sleepwalked your black a$$ into an accident. I tried running after you but you were too fast. You walked to that car," miss thing says.

I scoff.

"You're lying. I remember you giving me those pills and when I dozed off, it felt like I was dying."

I don't like how my voice sounds and it feels like I'm straining it by talking.

"Well, that's why your leg is broken and your arm is dislocated now. At least your face doesn't have any scratches. I was looking forward to calling you scar face," she claps back.

I suck my teeth then look at the doctor who seems amused. I can tell by how his lip is twitched.

"When are the police coming? I want this woman out of my room"

"Fuck you!" she slaps me yet again then storms out.

I hope I don't ever see her again.

"OK. Mr. Stereo. How are you feeling except for the pain?"
