My One and Only [ Short Story]

FOUR

Night came, Bob was out conversing with his colleagues. Liz stayed at home, she didn't bother waiting up for him as she was too tired.

A little after midnight, Bob stumbled home, he tried his best to not wake his sleeping wife. But he could hardly keep his balance.

This caused Liz to wake up to see Bob staggering and running to their bathroom to throw up.
Liz got up and assisted her husband.

"Dear, why did you drink so much?"
Cleaning him up and helping him into bed after giving him some water to drink. In no time Bob fell asleep.

The next morning, Bob felt so horrible, he barely wanted to go to work.
"I feel like shit" he exclaimed
"I am never drinking again".
Liz shook her head, she gave him a bowl of soup,
"Here, drinking this will help your hangover.
Bob thanked his wife and dug into the bowl, he belched in the end and felt rejuvenated.
Getting up to head out, he asked if she wasn't going to work today.

"No I'm taking the day, go on Bob you're going to be late".
She hastily got him out the house.
At work, Bob had many files to sort, he worked in HR at Bluemail so the work just frequently comes in without pause sometimes.
Ichika and her new baby visit Liz, spending quality time with each other.
" Liz, when are you guys going to give us a niece or nephew?"
While drinking juice in Liz's kitchen, she laughed.
"Bob and I haven't talked about it yet. He came so close for us to discuss it the other day, but something else came up and-"

"Did you stop taking birth control?" Ichikia interuptly asked.
Liz nodded "Yeah, about a month now, but I-"
The doorbell rang, Ichika looked at Liz
"Expecting anyone?"
She took her head and got up to answer the door.

Once she opened the door, she was stunned to see such a stranger, a tall girl, with pale white skin.
In her arms was a baby that seemed to be a little boy, who didn't look much older than five months.
"How may I help you?" Liz asked this stranger.

The woman gave a small smile and chuckled.
"Is this where Nigel Elric lives?"

Ichika heard the woman questioning Liz, she got up and stood behind Liz, who was shocked to see a woman and baby asking for her best friend's husband.

"Excuse me, but who are you?" Ichika asked.
The woman was rocking the baby, she handed an envelope to Liz.
"I'm Sandy and this is my son Liam Elric"

The ladies' jaw dropped, "Wait what?" Liz, who was stunned, Sandy's words weren't registered in her head instantly.
"Liz,go on, open the envelope," Ichika urged.

Elizabeth opened the envelope, it was a document.
"A positive DNA test?!" Ichika and Liz exclaimed at once.

Liz immediately invited Sandy into her house, they all sat down.
Her baby was really sweet, LIz asked if she could hold the baby for which Sandy agreed.

It warmed her heart when the sweet little human smiled and babbled at her, he even managed to get in a quart of drool too.

Ichika called for Bob who was busy at work.
"A what?!" he jumped out of seat , astonished by what he heard over the phone.
Bob quickly asked for a quick leave then proceeded to clock out once approved.

What type of set up am I in? Is this my version of MJ's Billie Jean? What is my wife probably thinking right now?

All this went through his mind and when he pulled up to his house, Bob did not even park well in his driveway. He was too anxious to see which woman would try to plant a child on him.
Is she trying to ruin my life? My marriage? Liz?
Upon opening the door, he barged into the house, all eyes were on him.
Liz, holding a baby, Ichika and the strange accuser.
