"Beatrice, did you hear me? I need you to peel the potatoes." Beatrice's mom says.
"Of course mom, I 'll get to that." Beatrice says, snapping out of her daydream about a prince in a far away land. Ever since that day in the field with Marion, she is constantly wishing she could marry a prince, and they would love each other so much, and live in a castle-
"Beatrice! This is your last warning! Go peel the potatoes for the highnesses dinner!" Beatrice's mom all but yells.
Sighing, Beatrice goes to get a couple of potatoes from the cellar.

"Elinor!" Peggy screams when Elinor and Angelica walk into the house.
"Hey Pegs! Guess what we brought for ze highness" Elinor says in a fake french accent.
"Is it candy?" Eliza asks while walking down the stairs.
"Close, but no. We bought yummy cookies!" Angelica says happily. As all the girls squeal in delight, the noises cause the attention of Catherine Van Rensselaer, the Schyuler girls mom.
"What is the cause of all this commotion young ladies?" She asks teasingly.
"SUGAR" Peggy says excitedly
"Ah I see. Not too much now, or you will get a stomach ache. And keep it down, my husband loves cookies. But I'll keep it a secret for one." Catherine says with a wink
"Of course mom!" Says Eliza handing her one of the delicacies.
"Scatter now! He's coming!" Catherine says while retreating back to the kitchen to eat in peace.
After making it safely to Angelica's room, the girls all settle down to eat. Peggy is already eating rapidly which itself is hilarious.
"I wonder if we'll have to ration sugar and things if we go to war." Peggy says between bites.
They all stop eating and just stare at her. Peggy is 7 years old! Why should she be worrying about a war? Elinor thinks silently to herself.
"Pegs, I don't know why you thought of that, but you shouldn't." "No, you mustn't." "Let the adults worry about that." Angelica, Eliza, and Elinor say in turns. Peggy just shrugs and continues eating her cookies, which is a relief to all three of them.

"Times are changing. But the question is, do we change with them?" Beatrice hears while cleaning for the highness. She stops and wonders, if the world is changing, aren't people changing with it already? Shrugging it off, she continues to scrub the floors.
"Your highness, your subjects aren't just going to lay down for you to stomp all over them" An advisor bravely says.
"HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF SUCH A CRIME TO MY PEOPLE? OFF WITH HIS HEAD!" The highness screams. Well, that explains a lot, mutters Beatrice. The rulers are complete nutters.
