We continued to run even deep in the woods yet the monster was persistent in chasing us. "You're kidding!? It brushed off all that stuff and come after us!" Ace exclaimed, looking at the monster in fear as it shouted about giving the magic crystal back while Deuce made a remark about how it's going to catch up to us soon.

I stopped and turn around. "Since we already weaken, might as well take it down," I said and took some random rock on the ground and throw it to the monster. I don't know why I did that but I guess the monster is distracted by me since I'm holding the magic crystal.

Ace looked at me in surprise by how I just throw a rock at the monster before stopping his track and let out a groan before turning his head at Deuce, telling him not to let him down as Grim also jumped off from my shoulder and told me that he will show his true power.

I watched Ace using wind magic while it powers up Grim's fire breath while Deuce called out cauldrons and used an occasional white-looking magic shot and ice shards shooting at the monster. It was an impressive fight if I had to be honest to the point the monster was defeated and laid down on the ground with the black goo in its body dissipating to thin air.

The boys were trying to catch their breath after casting a whole lot of magic and celebrating their victory against the monster, high-fiving each other which I had to admit was cute. "I guess adversity does bring people together," I stated, looking at them with a smile before they immediately snapped out and suddenly backed away from each other.

"...Ah. N-no. This is nothing like that!"

"Y-yeah, yeah! Could you stop saying weird things?"

"W-we won, thanks to my genius! It's not because we pooled our strength!"

Look at them denying their friendship... Well, not that I mind of course. Being with these three made me wish I had friends like this before if my life wasn't so controlling back then. Ace rubbed his neck and cast his gaze away from me before saying, "...I guess making excuses is pretty lame." He looked up at me as I raised my eyebrows. "I hate to admit it, but we won thanks to your plan." He smiled while I stood there frozen, trying to process what he said.

Was that... a compliment?

"...True. We got the magic crystal because you gave us level-headed instructions. We can prevent our expulsion this way." Deuce agreed with Ace's statement while I'm still trying to process what they both said while Deuce let out a sigh of relief.

I wasn't expecting this but it felt nice to be like this once in a while. "Well, I'm glad you guys are alright." Without even me realizing it, a wide smile had spread on my face. "Let's go back and deliver this crystal before too late, shall we?" I asked as Ace and Grim made a statement how they are hungry after using a whole lot of magic before Grim stopped on his track.

"Hmm... What's this?" I turned to Grim and saw he was picking up a pitch-black rock but Deuce stated that it was a magic crystal, though... I'm getting a bad feeling from the crystal. Grim sniffed the crystal and immediately drooled after sniffing it. "This thing smelt so good..." Grim licked his lips before Ace looked at him in a disgusted manner.

"This has to be candy the monster was hiding! Oooh, I can't hold back! Time to dig in!" I looked at him in shock as he put it in his mouth.

I immediately knelt at his height before patting his back. "Grim, no! DON'T EAT THAT SHIT- Have some self-respect!" I shouted at him but he completely swallowed it. I let out a sigh as he began to let out a groan. "You lil shit." I cursed at him as Deuce asked him if he was alright while Ace remarked that he shouldn't eat anything off the ground but his reaction was the complete opposite.
