Alex isn't in bed with me when I wake up. That was expected though, it's Friday. He's at work.

I sigh and slide out of bed, my eyebrows furrowing when I realize Lucifer isn't in the room with me.

Maybe he stayed home?

I brush my teeth and tame the beast that is my hair before leaving the room and heading down the hall. I walk straight towards the kitchen, starving.

My heart stops when I see the figure if a man in the kitchen that is most definitely not Alex.

I scream. The man also screams. Lucifer barks.

Lucas scoffs, pressing his hand to his chest. "Jesus fuck, Aaliyah!" He yells at me like I'm to blame.

"What the hell are you doing?!" I yelp, holding my hands to my chest as a protective mechanism.

Lucas gasps. "That's a bad word, Aaliyah." He chides, almost disappointed in me.

I narrow my eyes, a little frustrated. "What are you doing here?" I harshly question, crossing my arms over my chest.

Lucas's eyebrows raise. "What are you doing here?" He turns the question onto me. "And in Alex's shirt?" He adds with a knowing smile.

I huff in response. "It's not what it looks like." I quietly assure him, feeling a little embarrassed about nothing. We had a friendly sleepover.

Lucas chuckles, entertained by my embarrassment. "Oh, isn't it though?" He lowly taunts.

"No! It's not." I quickly shake my head and raise my voice. "I have two weeks of freedom so I decided to stay here for a few nights to hang out with my friend." I emphasize the word for him, just in case.

Lucas's eyebrows raise. "Oh, I'm sorry. Is this some sort of friends with benefits deal then?" He pretends to be apologetic, teasing me.

I frown at his slightly hurtful joke. "Lucas," I try.

Lucas sighs, frowning back at me. "Okay." He finishes his teasing. "Sorry." He apologizes.

I give a small nod, accepting his apology. "What are you doing here?" I ask again, desperate to get some answers out of him.

Lucas shrugs casually. "Sometimes I stop by to take Lucifer out for a little walk while Alex is at work." He gestures to Lucifer who sits at my feet. "I didn't realize someone would be here already though." He mutters thoughtfully.

"We're friends." I whisper, frowning a little. Friends can have sleepovers.

Lucas silently dismisses me, looking into the fridge to put the milk he too out for his cereal. I watch him grab a spoon in silence. I know he's not buying the friend's thing—and why would he? But what do I say?

What do I do here?

Lucas suddenly deeply sighs. "I tried to tell him." He mumbles.

"What?"

Lucas looks at me, meeting my eyes with a soft smile. "I tried to tell him how you felt." He tells on himself like it's nothing. He doesn't even look remorseful as he speaks. The most I get is a soft smile. Nothing more.

I stare at him, in disbelief. "...Why would you do that?" I whisper, frowning at him still. After just a day or so of knowing, he already tells on me. He already parades my feelings around like that. I huff out an offended breath. "I trusted you with that, Lucas." I harshly announce.
