04 ; Breathe Deep
“Renegotiate the terms
Of this terminal life
I’ll put up a fight.”“I was stuck in this hell for four years then, and I will be living in it for—who knows how many years to come?” Taehyung continued to pace in front of me as if he has shouldered every burden there is in the world. “And you... you don’t belong here, Guk. You don’t belong in this hell.”
Back and forth, back and forth, he continued pacing like a mad man wasting his energy as he waits for my response. He waited for a few more seconds but it didn’t come, still. Maybe he noticed as he finally stopped pacing, his gaze landing on me with a frown etched on his face.
However, I only smiled at him. “You look adorable pacing back and forth with that frown, just like an angry little tiger. Can you say ‘rawr’ for me just once? Hehe.” I giggled at my own request. Just imagining him saying it makes my heart pound, I bet he’d look so cute.
Taehyung splutters, suddenly speechless as he looked at me with disbelief. I proudly smiled once I noticed him getting flustered with just mere teasing. “You’re unbelievable, did you even listen to what I just said?” He stomped in my direction and pulled on my cheeks, squeezing the life out of them both.
“Ah, ouch! Tae, stop!” I tapped his hands that mercilessly clung to my cheeks. He squeezed even harder making me yelp before pulling away. “That hurts!” I exclaimed, now gently caressing both sides of my face. I’ll be a battered boyfriend, I take it. Once he decided not to keep on rejecting me, that is.
Taehyung huffs, crossing his arms against his chest as he sits beside me. “Deserved!” He says, rolling his eyes. Silence greeted us after that, not until he broke it. “Guk, I want you to know that I meant everything I said. You can’t keep doing this.”
I sighed, I guess it’s time for the overdue heart-to-heart talk. I held his hands once again as I looked at him seriously, “Tae, there’s something that I want for you to understand,” I told him and he looks at me quizzically and I continued, “I am not leaving your side, ever.”
He opens his mouth to protest but I beat him to it.
“Shh, listen to me first.” Taehyung reluctantly obeyed as he sat still with no further intentions of cutting me off. “Maybe you were right when you said that I have been living my whole life for you. But I don’t think you know that in all of the years of my life, you have always been there.”
I squeezed his hands when I noticed him tearing up again. “Tae, you have taken up so much space and time in my life that it’s hard to decipher when you were ever without in it. And now, you’re asking me to go and live my own life without knowing that in order to do that, I have to give up almost all of what consisted it for the past years.”
“You’ll be taking most of what my life is and have been with you, Tae. Do you even know what would be left of me after that? It’s like asking me not to live at all.” Taehyung sobs profusely, his unending tears continued to fall, drop after drop. “So please, don’t push me away. If you’re going to have to live in this hell for a while, then you’ll be living in it with me.”
“You’re so damn stubborn!” Taehyung hits me without much force, his face wet with tears.
I chuckled and pulled him in a big hug, “Only stating facts, mahal.”
