The sound of children trick or treating could be heard from outside as they walked down the streets in their costumes, their candy rustling in their baskets; houses were decorated with lights and jack o lanterns to attract children to their homes.

Zela's room was the same as usual; always cleaned, her black bedsheets nicely made on her bed, and her volleyball number hung up on the wall, reading: '42'

Zela readjusted her devil horns she was wearing, looking in the mirror.

She was dressed as a devil, wearing a red skirt, red fishnets, red boots, along with a red crop top that just barely exposed her stomach; topped off with a red spiked bracelet she was wearing on her left wrist.

She turned around when she heard her phone ring on her bed, walking over to see who it was.

'Ioa'

She picked up the phone and put it up to her ear, instantly hearing the background music.

"You coming or what?" Ioa asked as she put her other hand on her other ear.

Zela let out a chuckle and replied

"Yea, I should be done here in a bit; I'm just gonna go downstairs and get me a few things before I go."

"Alright, text me when you're almost here." Ioa stated, taking the phone away from her ear.

"Wait!" Zela said quickly, Ioa putting the phone back up to her ear.

"Yeah?"

"Is Sura there?"

"Not yet, he should be here soon." Ioa informed.

"I thought you guys ended on good terms?" Ioa followed up.

"We did, I just don't want it to be awkward between us."

"It's not gonna be awkward, y'all some good friends." Ioa reassured.

There was an awkward silence that lingered for a second, before Zela stated

"Alright, I'll be on my way soon."

"See ya!"

Zela hung up the phone, placing it back on her bed.

She walked over to her mirror, looking at her outfit for a few seconds.

Her attention was shifted when she heard the doorbell ring from downstairs, she walked out of her room and down her steps; walking up to the front door.

She opened the door, only to be immediately greeted by someone wearing a costume in front of her.

The person wore a mask that had L shaped eyes, they had a tint of red outlining them to give it the shade of blood. There was a smile that was stitched together with wire, although it wasn't even; more comparable to that of a jack o lateen.

Zela looked at the small table that was next to the door and saw the bowl of candy, picking it up and sticking her hand out to the person in front of her.

"Your choice."

The person looked down into the bowl, taking out a snickers bar.

They looked back up at Zela, and although Zela couldn't see their eyes, she could feel them staring intently at her.

"Where did you get that costume? Looks cool." Zela complimented, breaking the silence that grew between them.

The person simply stared at her, Zela's uneasy feeling growing inside her.

She slowly grabbed the door and shut it, turning around and walking into the kitchen.

She looked at the mail that was on the island table, quickly sorting through it.
