I hide.
I hide from the people who hurt me.
I hide with the kids who
Know how it feels to be forgotten.
We hide in the shadows
Like monsters.
But we are friendly.
We only party like monsters.
It's a moshpit of fun and good vibes.
There are parties in the shadows, too.
Everyone is invited.
Everyone is appreciated.
Everyone is treated fairly.
Everyone is having fun.
Everyone is positive.
Everyone is free.
We paid our dues.
We deserve this.
We observe the people
Who drown in the spotlight,
And pity them.
We thank The Lord that we hid.
For the kids who drown,
Are never the same,
Or don't come out alive.
Once I ran to safety and hid,
I started to feel more comfortable.
Calm.
Relaxed.
Proud.
It was all things I haven't felt
For a very long time.
It was the first time in forever.
I was proud of myself to step down.
But then I realized
That we stopped taking as much.
We barely acknowledged each other.
It's like you forgot.
But I don't care.
You can't hurt me here.
I know I'm not over excaggerating.
When I was noticed,
Or invited,
I knew I wasn't belonging.
I was just filling in a space.
I wasn't as comfortable,
As when I step down.
When I see the spotlight,
I am not blinded.
And do not forget everything.
Even the important things.
...
Like you do.
