Shadows

I hide in the shadows.

Where I belong.

So I can't get hurt.

With the children who understand,

And know how it feels

To be left behind;

To be forgotten.

But we guide each other.

Protect each other

From the real monsters.

We are the misfit children.

I stay with them.

We sit together.

Walk together.

Are always with each other.

So if one falls,

We are right behind to catch them.

Unlike you did.

The shadows is a place

Where they mend my wounds.

Sow up the gashes

With kindness and understanding.

Letting me know,

That it's okay.

That it will pass.

And I will be back on my feet.

And stronger than ever.

I just need to wait a little longer.

Learn a little more.

I hide in the shadows.

Where I can't get blinded by the

spotlight.

And cannot see what is really

important

In the shadows,

No one sees my flaws,

How scared,

How insecure,

I really am.

The shadows protect me.

I am seen equal by the people like me.

They respect me

And do not let me down.

When I am thrown down,

They catch me.

In a net of comfort and kindness.

They understand.

We build each other back up.

We are who we are.

We are comfortable with each other.

And help each other recover,

And move on.

But we are not scared.

We were,

But we are safe now.

We are strong.
