2gether ||Xiao x Aether||

Episode 22

Xiao stood still unable to process what just happened. He stared at Aether,  did he misheard him? This is all just a dream right? Aether was not breaking up with him right? Right?!

But Aether's face darkened, by than it just started raining. Xiao could hear the rain droplets hitting the shelter covering them. Aether was silent the whole time, he suddenly turned and walked away. Xiao did not chase after him. He just let him go.

The next week, Aether moved to Venti's dorm. As he was bringing his things inside, he realised that he did not say goodbye to Xiao before he left. He just shook off the feeling of uneasiness and continued bringing his things inside the dorm. Aether saw the guitar that Xiao lend to him when he went to his dorm. Aether was flooded by memories from that night, how they went from recording a video to Xiao sleeping on him. He chuckled as he remembered those fond memories. If only they could return back to the good old days.

He wiped his tears as he carried the remaining things inside the room. Kazuha would come a few times to check up on Aether and bring some desserts to cheer him up. Almost everyone Aether knew came to check up on him except for two people.

Zhongli and Childe have not talked to Aether once after the break up. Kaeya said that Childe was busy studying and could not come but Aether knew that was a lie.

Four days later the doorbell rang, Venti was not around so Aether opened the door to find Xiao standing in front of him. Aether was taken aback by his sudden appearance and just stared at him. "I just came to get back my guitar"

Of course Xiao was not here to visit him, Aether silently left to grab the guitar. He wanted to keep it a bit longer but it was not his so he just gave it back. Aether passed the guitar to Xiao and was about to close the door when Xiao stopped him. He looked like he wanted to say something but kept quiet and left.

Aether was walking back to the dorm when someone behind him called his name. He turned and saw the last person he wanted to see. "Ganyu?" The girl waved at him and asked if she could talk to him for awhile. Aether wanted to refuse, just looking at Ganyu made him angry but he followed her.

They sat by the stairs and Ganyu was asking how he was doing since she did not see him at all during practice and was worried. "Is there anything bothering you recently?"

"No" Aether replied while getting annoyed by the questions

"Really, are you sure-"

"I said I am fine, I don't need your fake sympathy" Ganyu was shocked by his sudden outburst but she expected this sort of reaction.

"I won't be taking up much of your time just listen to what I have to say. It is about Xiao"

Aether looked at her confused "What happened to him?"

"You see" Ganyu proceeded to explain "I asked him to help me compose a song recently"

"Just yesterday he told me that he was unable to help him, to be honest it was a bit shocking since he normally agrees to help me with whatever I needed help with when we were younger" Ganyu chuckled as she remembered her childhood memories

"But when he told me the reason why he could not help me, I was expecting this sort of reply but it still hurts" Ganyu looked down

"What was his reply?" Aether asked

"He told me that he could only write a love song for the person he liked, and it was you" Aether looked at her

"I came here to confess to him actually but seeing him look so happy when he is around you made me happy for him as a friend"

She looked at Aether "I came here to apologise to you for making you break up with him, but I would like to ask one thing from you"

"Get back together with him" Ganyu smiled as she stood up and walked away

That night Aether found it hard to process the amount of information from his talk with Ganyu. He tossed and turned not knowing what to do, he does want to get back together with Xiao.

Next morning he was thinking of how to execute his plan of getting together with Xiao again. He remembered Ganyu telling him about a upcoming music competition and that Xiao was going to perform in it. "Should I show up to support him?"

The day of the competition arrived, Xiao was busy getting ready to perform. He was listening to the music he was about to perform later when it ended and another song started playing, he was about to switch it back when he remembered the specific tune.

It was Aether's favourite song

Xiao listened to it till it was time to perform, he got up and the crowd was screaming even louder. From the number  of people Xiao spotted someone from the crowd. The same blonde coloured hair he had seen many times attracted his attention. Aether came to watch him perform.

After the performance the two of them met up. It was awkward since they did not know what to say. Xiao was about to say something when Aether hugged him tightly. Xiao was surpriced but said "I am still sweating you know"

"I don't care"

Aether let go of him "I came to apologise, and ask if we could get back together"

Xiao did not know what to say but after awhile he replied "I see you are still straightforward as always"

Aether's face went a bit red "I should have listend to what you wanted to say, I am sorry..."

"Could you repeat that I could not hear what you were saying"

"I knew he was going to tease me" Aether thought "I am leaving "

Xiao grabbed him and hugged him from behind "I should be the one apologising, and yes I want to get back together with you"

"FINALLY " Childe appeared out of thin air and startled the both of them. Xiao was about to murder Childe but Aether was holding him back.
