I ran all the way to the grass plains. Gasping for breath I fell back on the ground and let out a large sigh. I could still feel the presence of the girl lasting on me.
I try to get my mind over by doing push-ups. After about 2 hours, Jonathan came trotting up to me with some other players behind him.
"HEY KUU!!", shouted Johnathan. "Bro meet the new party!" I turned around and looked at him and the others.
Divine was there right next to John, and a short girl bouncing up and down ecstatically. I could tell she was also an apprentice swordsman. Her slender rapier hung at her right hip. I then got up and walked over to her.
"Your sword is placed on the wrong side. It should be on the left", I said bluntly. Her eyes lit up.
"Oh really!? I totally didn't know! Let me fix it!" She squabbled with the scabbard and dropped it. Embarrassed, she picks it up and attaches it to the left side of her belt. I then looked over at the girl who I met in the labyrinth. My face instantly flushed.
John saw my expression and snickered. "This is Alice. She's new to the game. Just started today. And this--" John points to the beautiful girl with cat ears, "is Yuinia Mitsuhime. She's an archer. She's been playing the game longer than us. I guess you could call her our senpai."
I then bowed abruptly. "N-nice to meet you both!" John laughs. 'Ladies, this is my best friend and apprentice swordsman, Kuuga. He's been playing with me since the start. He's not very strong, but he's powerful for a noob. He'll be joining us on the raid today."
I then gave a look of confusion." Raid? What Raid? ", I asked.
" There's a treasure dungeon raid today. In random areas of the map, chests will spawn, giving out rare items. I'm sure you can't pass up on this opportunity to get something good, right Kuu? ", asked John, nudging me with his elbow.
I gave him a shove and sighed. "Of course! After all, I'm going to be the strongest swordsman in the world." I gloated.
" 'Strongest swordsman'? Are you kidding...? " , said a voice. I looked up to see a short boy in a long black coat, black hair, and blue eyes, sitting on a tree branch with his sword propped up on his shoulder. He had an edgy style that just pissed me off.
" Yeah, what of it? Who're you anyway?", I retorted. The boy then jumped down from the branch and landed a few feet away from us.
"Oh yeah this is JettyBoy. He's a prodigy amongst the swordsmen. He'll be a great addition to the party. ", explained Johnathan.
" Whoa! A pro? What level is he? ", asked Yuinia with curiosity. My blood pressure went up. So what if this kid was a pro player? I'm sure once I get a good item, I'll be able to put him on his ass.
"Heh, JettyBoy? What a stupid name. I bet you're 14 or something." I laughed. The kid wasn't taken aback by the insult." I am 14... ", he said, "And just call me Jet... "
Divine finally spoke up. " Alright since we now all know each other, let's get rolling!", she said, obviously trying to stop a greater conflict.
"Yeah, totally!", said John. We then started walking to our destination. I recommended that we used our mounts, but John said that walking would help us bond more. Which everyone agreed. Alice started trying to flirt with Jet, and to my surprise, he completely ignored her. I then walked alongside John and Divine. I saw Yuinia walking and talking with Jet, asking him about bosses and encounters. I scowled and continued walking in silence. Divine nudged me with her elbow and leaned down to whisper to me.
"Don't worry about Jet. He's 14. He has no chance with Yui. She's 18..."
18!!?? Dammit that makes it even worse!! I'm only two years younger than her. But I guess it's not that big of an age gap.
We continued walking to the Treasure Island.
