(Y/N) hums to himself, fluffing the red petals of the beautiful red roses that sat on his window seal. The black tinted windows kept his pale skin from getting burned by the sun, but also gave the flowers the light they needed to thrive in the vampire's otherwise dark room. The only other light was a dim candle that stood on his vanity.
A soft mew catches (Y/N)'s attention, a black cat rubs against his leg, wanting attention. He bends down and picks up his beloved feline friend. Petting the needy cat, hearing it purr.
He didn't want to leave the comfort of his bedroom; he didn't want to go out into the blinding light of sun. Trading a peaceful silence for the loud surrounds of a public high school, calm loneliness for anxiety inducing social interaction.
(Y/N) sighs when he hears his mother call for him, telling him to hurry to school or else he'd be late. Which was impossible since the vampire could easily use his speed to get there within a fraction of a minute, but the family couldn't risk people seeing them use their abilities. So (Y/N) had to take the bus instead.
He puts his cat down, who meows in disappointment. (Y/N) quickly adjusts his bowtie in the large vanity mirror before making his way down the black marble stairs, his mother waiting for him at the end of them. She hands her son his newly bought school bag, it was black with sliver zippers. Clearly well-made and expensive.
"Thank you, mom," (Y/N) smiles as she kisses his forehead, his mother was a beautiful woman.
Her hair was as white as the snow outside, eyes red as the blood she consumes. Her rose red lipstick popped thanks her pale complexion, and she was also the sweetest, yet strongest person (Y/N) knew. Keeping the house together and her husband in check.
She could be mistaken as his older sister despite being around since the dark ages, (Y/N) already has two older sisters anyway, and they liked spending all their free time teasing him, so he didn't need another.
"Try not to scare your classmates away!" Scarlet shouts from the older side of the room, she was the oldest and was spitting image of her mother. The only way people could the two apart is the black streak she has in her hair, bright blue eyes, and her black as night make-up. Very different from the mother's love of the color red.
Now they each had a natural eye color, but it's usually masked by the blood red eyes being in vampire mode. It was rare to see the mother's natural green eyes or the fathers' lovely blue eyes.
"He'll probably scare them with one simple look, (Y/N)'s got a stare that can still" Rosemary snickers, standing next to Scarlet. Her hair was black, so much that no light bounced off it, sharing her mother's green eyes along with the red popping lipstick.
"You two stop teasing him!" (Y/N)'s mother scolds her daughters while he stands there and say nothing, watching.
Just at a glance people could tell they were all related, while (Y/N) looked nothing like the rest of them. The only trait he shared was the pale skin all vampires have. And that's because he isn't their child, traditionally at least. (Y/N)'s real parents were their best friends and were sadly killed in a mob a year after he was born, so they took him in.
Now this family never missed treated him, no they loved him like he actually shared blood. And (Y/N) had no complaints, he was happy.
"You're ready right?" A man's voice asks, coming from nowhere. It was the man of the (L/N) household, Vladimir (L/N). The man over centuries old but didn't look a day over 20, hair as black as the night sky with a clean-shaven face, he had an intimating aura to him, but couldn't harm a fly. "This is going to be your senior year after the uh... last indecent we had"
(Y/N) nods "Yes, I'm ready" the young vampire didn't expect it to be any different from the last school he went too, he figured that his classmates would brand him as the weird quiet kid and stay out of his way. It's the way (Y/N) liked it, it gave him the space to read and write his poems.
"(Y/N)" The father pipes up again, saying his son's name a bit more sternly "I want you to actually make friends, you can't just sit around reading your books all alone" (Y/N)'s father finishes. Worried about the younger vampire.
(Y/N) only responded with an eye roll, he didn't need friends. He was happy behind being himself, and besides humans usually found him strange. And avoid him.
"Please" His father pleads, Vlad wanted to see his son actually spend time with another living thing that wasn't the boy's cat. (Y/N) sighs.
"I'll try, but I can't promise anything" (Y/N) mutters, looking away with his eyes "But I'll try" he didn't want to make his parents were about him. They never needed to worry about his sisters, they've always been outgoing and social. It's their shut-in, quiet son that they worry about.
(Y/N)'s mother comes back over and gives him a big kiss on his cheek, thankfully none of her lipstick gets smeared onto his cheek "The bus should be here any minute sweetheart, you should get going!" she says while handing (Y/N) his favorite parasol.
The parasol was black with roses printed on the very edges with black lace hanging over the sides, not only was it beautiful. But it protected him from the sun.
(Y/N) opens the parasol before stepping out the front door, hissing at little as his eyes bet blinded by how bright it is outside. But he pulled through and walked to the curb outside of their black metal fence and gate, he watches the large yellow school bus slowly get closer. (Y/N) lets out a breathy huff, watching the warmth of his breath mist in the cold air around him. Yet he wasn't cold at all.
Soon the bus comes to a screeching halt in front of him, and the doors open.
