A shrill ringing sounded throughout the house. Jellal was still waiting for Gajeel and his group to finish packing. He went his office and picked up the corded phone.
"Hello, Jellal Fernandes speaking." He said formally.
"Hello, this is Zoltan Dreyar, I believe you know Natsu Dragneel." The other man on the phone answered.
"H-how do you know?" Jellal questioned.
"I have my ways. But, that doesn't matter right now. I'll explain that later, your going to Crocus, correct?" He questioned. Jellal nodded but realized that this Zoltan man couldn't see him."Y-yes. Why?" Jellal demanded, his shock wearing off slightly.
"I would like to speak with you. We need to meet this weekend, I won't be in town from Tuesday to Friday." He said, he sounded like he was talking to an old colleague, not some man he's never met before.
"Where will you be?" Jellal asked.
"Hargeon. My long time girlfriend and I are taking a trip." He said simply. "Anyways, there's a small cafe in Crocus, around the area where you'll be searching for young Miss Levy McGarden. It's called Blue Bird Cafe, it shouldn't be too hard to find." He said. "I'll be waiting for you on Saturday. Oh, and only bring one other with you. I don't care who you bring, but preferably, Natsu." He said. Jellal was silent for a long moment before sighing.
"Very well. I will meet you at the Blue Bird Cafe on Saturday. Good day." Jellal hung up the phone and put his head in his hands. Who the hell are you? He thought to himself. He might've just sat there all day if Wendy didn't cut in."Big brother, are you alright?" She asked sweetly. Jellal looked up and smiled at his young sister.
"Yes, I'm fine. Just, thinking." He said, more like he was trying to convince himself more then her. "So, are you all packed? We're leaving soon." He said, standing and walking over to her, crouching in front of her and taking her hands.
"Yup! I can't wait to see new towns!" She exclaimed, jumping up and down. Jellal grinned and kissed his little sisters forehead before standing and walking into to the living room.
"Alright. I'll go see if our friends are ready." He said, turning to walk up the stairs.
"No need. We're ready." Lucy said, smiling. She reached down and ruffled Wendy's hair, making the small girl giggle loudly and she hugged the blondes middle.
"I need to let Erza know where to meet us, then we will meet you at the train station." Jellal said, shouldering his pack.
"Awe! I wanted to go with big brother Happy!" Wendy whined. Jellal sighed and Lucy smiled at them both.
"Well, we can take her." She offered.
"Oh, I'd hate to for her to be a bother." Jellal said, rubbing the back of her head.
"Well, I think it's too late, seeing as Happy already left with her on his back." Natsu said, jerking his thumb at the open door. Jellal sighed and put a hand to his face. "Well, we better catch up to them. C'mon!" Natsu grabbed Lucy's hand pulling her out the door. Gajeel rolled his eyes and followed out after them at a slower pace with Jellal.
"So, you gonna tell her to meet us in Crocus or Hargeon." He asked, making small talk, as much as he hated talking with people he doesn't know well.
"Hargeon. I figured it would be better to meet there, then have her chase us." Jellal shrugged.
"So, are you two a thing or something?" Gajeel questioned. He had a specialty for making situations uncomfortable and awkward with new people. He smirked at Jellal's suddenly red face and how he was tripping over his words.
"W-well, I-I suppose you c-could call us that. But, we're technically n-not supposed to be together." He said.
"Ah, I get it. So, what, she's head of security and let me guess, your supposed to marry some fancy ass bitch." Gajeel snickered.
"Supposedly, yes. But, I've been meaning to speak with my father about it. If he refuses to let me marry her, then I'll leave." He stated certainly. "And I'll take Wendy and Erza with me."
"Why the brat?" He asked.
"Because she's my little sister. And I know she'll be pushed into something she doesn't want to do, and so I want to give her a life worth living."
"Hmm. Seems like a lot of responsibility." Gajeel grunted.
"You don't have younger siblings, so I wouldn't expect you to understand." Jellal sighed and the reached the cross section where one road leads to the train station, the other to the hospital. "Alright. I'll meet you at the station in fifteen minutes on the next train." Gajeel nodded and walked down the road to the train station. He walked up to find Natsu half asleep on Lucy's lap as they sat on a bench, while Happy ran around with Wendy on his back.
"I swear, you look like the most dysfunctional family ever." Gajeel growled, walking up to Lucy and setting his pack down next to her pink suitcase.
"Well, we may be dysfunctional, but at least it's never boring!" She grinned up at the scowling man, who grunted his response. "Where's Jellal? You didn't ditch him did you?" Lucy had a warning undertone.
"No, I did not ditch him!" Gajeel said defensively. "He went to tell the redhead where to meet us when she and Lil get out of this place." He mumbled and leaned against a pillar next to the group. "It's wired not havin the old man with us." He mumbled under his breath.
"What was that?" Lucy asked, watching the kids act like five year olds.
"Nothin." He grunted and closed his eyes for a moment.
"Gajeel! We're bored!" Happy whined. Gajeel cracked open one eye to the young boy.
"So? What'd ya want me to do about it?" He growled.
"Play with us!" Wendy exclaimed. Gajeel rolled his eyes and went back to sleep.
"Gajeel, go play for a bit. It'd probably do you some good." Lucy giggled. Gajeel looked up at her and glared halfheartedly.
"Fine." He huffed and stood before being dragged off by the young girl and boy. They ran around, playing tag and hide-n-go-seek, close to Lucy of course, before Jellal finally showed up. "Looks like your brothers here." Gajeel said, setting Wendy down on her feet. She ran over and gave him a big hug, he laughed lightly and carried her back over to the group.
"I've informed Lily and Erza to meet us in Hargeon." He said to the older members of the group.
"Alright. C'mon, our trains ready for boarding." Lucy said and woke Natsu enough to get him on the train. Happy followed suit, running ahead with Wendy. Jellal and Gajeel followed the kids, keeping them in sight.
