Chapter 4

*Crystal Pov*

I headed back into the briefing room where only Thor and Director Fury where chatting as they both glanced up when I entered. My hand was still playing with my necklace as I saw Thor glance over at me to see how I doing as I gave a slow nod to inform him that I was okay.

"When I first came to earth, Loki's rage followed me here and your people paid the price. And now again. In my youth I courted war." Thor muttered as they continued their conversation as I sat down and tuned in.

"War hasn't started yet. You think you can make Loki tell us what the Tesseract is?" Fury pointed towards me as I shrugged unsure.

"I do not know. Loki's mind is far afield, it's not just power he craves, it's vengeance upon Thor and Asgard. There's no pain that would prize his need from him....." I slowly reported as Fury huffed defeated as Thor held the bridge of his nose.

"A lot of guys think that, until the pain stops." Fury stated as I glanced up slightly confused.

"What are you asking me to do?" Thor asked sternly as I gulped.

"I'm asking. What are you prepared to do?" Fury demanded as I saw the tension building between the two slightly as I gulped.

"Loki is a prisoner." Thor defended as Fury rolled his eye.

"Then why do I feel like he's the only person on this boat that wants to be here?" He snapped as neither Thor nor I answer. It was true; he was where he wanted to be. He was planning everything, one, two, three steps ahead. He knew this would happen, so why was he proudly sitting in his cage. Was he playing his own twisted chest game and waiting to see what we do next?

"Thor, something isn't right" I whispered as he nodded down at me. Grumbling I left the room and made my way once more back to where Loki was being kept as he raised an eyebrow in my direction as I stood in front of the glass.

"You've visited me twice in one day. My, my I didn't realise that you missed me that much" He smirked as I went to chuckle at his teasing words but bit down on my lip to prevent myself from smiling as he gave a small growl at the action.

"Loki where have you taken the Tesseract?" I asked him as he raised an eyebrow chuckling.

"I do not know" He smirked as I rolled my eyes and rubbed my forehead.

"Well then what have you've done to Agent Barton?" I asked as he narrowed his eyes slightly.

"I'd say I've expanded his mind." He laughed at his own inside joke as I took a step closer to the glass as he mirrored my movements.

"And once you've won. Once you're king of the mountain. What happens to his mind?" I spat coldly as he flinched at my harsh tone before returning back to that mischievous smirk I love.

"I won't touch Barton. I will make him kill those he cares about! Slowly. Intimately. In every way he knows they fear! And when he'll wake just long enough to see his good work, and when he screams, I'll spilt his skull!" He darkly threatened as I took a step back disgusted and horrified.

"You're a monster." I whispered broken.

"No, you brought the monster." He snarled before I saw pain flash in his eyes as I felt a tear drop down the side of my face. The Hulk. That's what he wanted to do, unleash him. Wiping my tear I couldn't look at him as I ran from the room and let myself lean against the wall outside.

"Crystal?" Fury asked as I took a deep breath composing myself.

"Loki plans to unleash the Hulk" I whispered as he nodded before running down one of the halls to my left. I began to feel something nagging in the back of my mind not long after I had informed Fury and Thor about what Loki aimed to achieve. Following my instincts I slowly made my way to Banner's lab only getting lost a couple of times, as the hallways were just constantly confusing and a maze.
