Yesterday was a disaster. I doubt the boys really enjoyed me, and Koda is really upset with me now. I was only two minutes over my lunch break, but he was beyond pissed.

Relief fills my body when I pull up to the shelter, seeing that Jimmy, Chris, and Karl had already arrived. That was good, I wasn't going to be late.

I parked my car and got out, walking towards the employee doors. When I got to the boys, I pulled a piece of paper out of my pocket. I flicked over it, then gave it to them.

"That's the list of cats." I say, digging around for my keys.

I unlock the doors, swinging them open and leading the boys to the cat area. Karl seemed a little nervous, so when we got to the room, I stood near him. We had around 20 minutes before actual open time, so Chris and Jimmy were studying their cat lists.

"Hey Karl?" I whisper, and he looks up, ready for me to say something else.

"Have you ever done your nails?" I ask quietly, and he gives a cautious nod.

I smile, nodding back. One of the kittens pawed at Karl's shoe, and he gave a small smile. I leant down, petting the kitten gently.

"This is Coco, she's honestly my favorite cat. She's really gentle, and she loves people." I tell him, earning a light giggle.

A quiet timer went off on my phone, and I pressed dismiss. The boys all looked at me, and I stood, walking to the cat food.

"Let's get started." I say.

-Time Skip-

The entire time we fed the cats, I made sure to stay close to Karl. He always looked on the verge of passing out, and I didn't want to be too far away, in case he did faint.

Now, we were stood outside watching the dogs play. Thats when I heard Koda call my name. I glanced over to Karl, who was sitting down with a bottle of water. He should be okay for now, right?

I turned, walking inside and standing next to Koda. He looked pissed, and Eliana was with him. She looked nervous and angry, but nowhere near the level of anger that Koda was at.

"What is it?" I ask calmly, and he clenches his fist.

"You forgot to feed four cats!" Koda snapped.

I looked at him confused, then felt a sting of sadness. It was probably Karl. That isn't his fault though, and he shouldn't be yelling for it, Eliana can simply feed them herself. She knows how.

"For your information, I didn't forget anything. You have to remember that we have three other people working today, don't just jump to conclusions. To worsen your side of this, one of them looks a lot like they're about to pass out, so don't even try to use any of this against him or me. Oh and by the way, I don't understand why Eliana couldn't have just fed them. She knows how and she knows where the food is, coming for me was just pointless. Don't blame me for a situation that didn't even have to happen." I say angrily, and he looks taken back.

I hear someone step inside, and then it's silent. I want to look, but for some reason I can't. I'm frozen, staring at Koda, as his expression changed to one of regret. He turned his head, and gave a sad smile.

"Hello Karl, is something wrong?"

"Uhm.. Raven, where are the bags and gloves?" Karl asked quietly, and Koda turned back to me.

"You're dismissed." He said, and walked away.

I sighed, going to the supply closet and getting us what we needed. If this was how me and Koda were going to continue, I'm not sure if I should keep working here.
