I lean down, setting a bowl of kibble in front of Coco. Coco is a calico, she's been at the shelter for a few months now. I don't work with her, just feed her, like I do with most of the cats.
I take care of the dogs, the cats are my co-worker Eliana's job. Any other animal breeds and their worker are on a completely different side of the shop. I have no idea who any of those people are, and I'm not very close with Eliana either. Our manager, however, is my best friend, Koda.
Speaking of Koda, I heard him coming down the hall. I stood up, turning to look in that direction. He was smiling, seemingly proud of himself.
"Raven! Guess what! Mr. Beast and his crew are coming to the shelter tomorrow. They're gonna help out for a day, see what it's like." Koda explained.
I stood there, surprised. People were coming to visit? They're gonna help out? What in the world is Koda doing?
"Would you mind explaining everything to them and showing them around?" He asked, and I gulped.
I didn't want to let him down, I know he's been looking for something like this. An interview, a visit, something to show off the shelter, and now he has it. But I'm standing here, my mind going against him.
Me and him were in a tough spot already. We got into a fight two days ago, and now it's awkward. I don't like it when he's mad at me, so I can make it up to him with this.
"Of course, what time do they get here?" I say shakily, and Koda smiles wider.
"12:00 to 12:30! Thank you so much, you're a life saver!" Koda said, and then turned to leave.
