ACTRESS FOUND LESS THAN A MILE AWAY FROM EXPLOSION SITE
The entrance to the emergency room was blocked by reporters and camera crews. The hospital security and police presence attempted to clear the way for the paramedics.
The nurses and nursing assistants were ready with blankets to cover Emi as she was brought in. Her body was covered in solar blankets. Her head layered with gauze. The paramedics updated the nursing staff as well as the supervising attending as soon as the doors were closed. They immediately rushed her to the first open operating room. The doors swung closed as the flashing lights from the media bled into the emergency room hallway.
In the waiting room, Emi's castmates were anticipating the doors to open and some news to be told, but there was nothing. When Stewart approached the nursing staff, they were specifically told that only her family was allowed to know the information, since they were having trouble managing the media outside. As soon as the nurse left, the waiting room door swung open with a frantic Charles, Lia, Kai, and Suk Yong. "What did they tell you?" Charles ran to Stewart.
"Nothing, they won't give us any information, since we aren't her family." That was the last thing that Charles wanted to hear. He punched the nearest wall and Stewart held him back from letting his aggression out in the waiting room. "Don't do this here. You're the last person she wants kicked out of here, especially with that media frenzy out there." Charles began pacing around the room.
Their wait lasted half an hour until the door opened with a nurse and Pabu on a leash. "The paramedics found him with Ms. Kim. He was the one that alerted the rescue crew of her location. I know you are looking for answers and updates. You are her family, Charles, Suk Yong, Lia, and Kai, correct?" The nurse handed Pabu's leash to Lia. Pabu was just as anxious as Charles about seeing Emi, whimpering as he scratched at the door. Pabu had escaped the house the same day the explosion happened. He had been missing just as long as Emi.
"Apologies to the three of you [looking at Stewart, Carly, and Evan]. I know you are her castmates, but we have to be extra cautious at this time. As for the update, she will be in surgery for another hour or so. Her head trauma was untreated for almost 48 hours and there was severe swelling when she arrived. The paramedics kept her stable enough to make it here. We are trying to raise her body temperature as we speak. Her left leg was severely injured and we won't know the extent of it until she enters the ICU. She will be under strict observation. You are all welcome to stay here until she is moved to the ICU." The update did not ease any concern they had. The limitations on visitors was not a surprising announcement as she would most likely be unconscious when she left the operating room.
An hour and a half had passed and the waiting room door did not open. Suk Yong had fallen asleep on a few of the seats with Charles' jacket draped over her and Pabu laying next to her for some comfort. No one could really tell if she was comforting Pabu or if Pabu was comforting her. Stewart, Carly, and Evan went to grab them food. Lia and Kai were told to stay in the hotel as they were dealing with the media frenzy following their group. Lia kept in contact with Stewart and Charles for any updates.
Lia texted to them both: We have got it handled here and I will be speaking with the main heads of the show and the company to see what the next steps are.
Charles: Thanks, Lia. Come back tomorrow after that meeting. I'm sure she would want to see you and Kai when she wakes up.
The words "when she wakes up" hit Lia harder than she expected. She cried as she thought of the worst. Kai found her holding her pillow and comforted his sister. He knew exactly what she was thinking as it had crossed his mind too. They both thought, 'Come on, Em. We need you.'

Just as Charles sent his response to Lia, a nurse and doctor came into the waiting room. "For Emi Kim," they announced. Charles woke up his mother and held Pabu as Stewart, Carly, and Evan scrambled to the front of the waiting room.
