It started to rain more heavily as they walked back toward the house. Clarke was delighted. It was cold, but she didn't care because rain wasn't something she had experienced yet, and it amazed her that water fell in such abundance when, on the Ark, it was strictly rationed. She'd had the same thought when she had first seen the river, and then the lake, but something about the rain seemed so much more incredible. She had a hard time fathoming how rain somehow came from the sky and clouds.

It wasn't something she had learned about from her parents. She wasn't sure anyone had really learned about it. She knew that some of the older teenagers were taught Earth Skills by Charles Pike, but somehow, she doubted it included how rain was made.

She shot a look at Lexa. The alpha was smiling at her. The omega lifted her hands to let the rain fall on them. "I remembered seeing videos of the rain," she said, "I never thought I would get to experience it."

"In a couple of months, this rain will turn to snow, and the ground will be blanketed in white. It's a wonder to behold, but it will be cold." Lexa gestured to the darkening sky. "This weather reminds me that we need to have winter clothing made for you."

"You already gave me a coat," Clarke protested, although shyly. She still wasn't used to being given things.

"Yes, but..."

*BOOM*

Lightning shot across the sky causing Clarke to instinctively cowered in terror. "Lex." Unconsciously she reached for the alpha's hand.

"It's alright, it's just lightening and it is still far away, but we do need to take shelter. We don't want to be exposed if it decides to strike nearby. Come on, the stable is closer than the house." Lexa looked to the sky. "It will be at least hour before the storm passes."

They moved quickly toward the stable, getting soaked as they went. Clarke felt bad. She knew that Lexa could have made it there in half the time, but the alpha stayed with her as she hobbled along, ducking every time there was more thunder.

Once in the stable, the alpha roved her eyes over Clarke, making sure she was okay. It wasn't until Clarke was standing still that she realized just how chilly she had gotten.

"C-c-cold." She began to shiver.

"Follow me. We need to get you out of that wet coat. It wasn't made to withstand the water. We can use the horse blankets to keep you warm until the storm is over."

Clarke followed Lexa. The alpha helped her out of the damp jacket, and then she carefully wrapped the blonde in one of the blankets. It didn't get past the omega that it was the same as one she used when they camped by the lake. Oddly, she didn't mind the horse smell that clung to it.

Looking at Lexa, she noticed that the alpha was shivering too. She hadn't grabbed herself a coat when she had run back into the house to grab one for Clarke, so her clothing was even more sopping than the omega's. At least her jacket had absorbed most of the rain, leaving her shirt relatively dry. Lexa's was so wet that it was clinging to her, and the omega couldn't help as her eyes took in the feminine alpha form that stood quivering before her.

Lexa was all muscle, but not in the way male alphas were. Her form was slender but toned. The omega couldn't help but notice the alpha's defined arms and abdomen. She had felt some of those muscles when the pair had ridden the horse together and then again when she rode piggyback, and it had done something to her, but seeing the muscles, that was a whole other thing, and it had Clarke staring.

"Klark, are you okay?"

Her eyes shot up to Lexa's face, and she could feel herself blushing wildly. She was happy that it was dark enough inside the barn that it probably hid her red face.
