Indra had just returned home with a pile clean clothing for the omega and to check on mous (almost) Heda, only to find that Lexa was not in residence, and the normally calm Nyko looked offput.

Asking what had him in such a foul mood, Nyko told her that the sky omega would not allow him to look at her even though she desperately needed to be treated. The fisa (doctor) explained that every move the omega was making was causing her pain, and he feared that he had missed something when he diagnosed the blonde the day before, only he couldn't get his hands on the girl for him to see what he might have missed.

"Why won't she let you treat her?" Indra asked.

"She's afraid," Nyko answered.

"Of you?" Indra laughed. "I guess I can see why. You look like a dia klondon (grizzly bear). Little does she know that you are really just a bidafluf (mouse)."

"You didn't say that when I bested you in the fighting ring the other day," Nyko remarked.

Indra rubbed her still sore shoulder. It had been a long time since someone had beaten her in the ring. To this day, even Anya couldn't do that, although Lexa could. "You cheated, fisa."

"I did no such thing. It is no fault of mine that you got distracted when a bird from above shit on your shoulder." He smiled and dodged her as she tried to smack him.

"Yeah, well maybe next time I will take that skrish (shit) and rub it into your beard," she said playfully.

"You could do that, only you would have to be the one to clean it out for me, houmon (spouse)."

She grabbed the man by the shoulders and gave him a kiss. "Maybe I wouldn't have helped you."

"You always help me, and right now, I need you to help by calming down a frightened omega," Nyko said seriously.

Indra scoffed. "I am hardly the person for that job."

"Well, there is no one else here to do it. Lexa got frustrated and left, and the omega won't let me near her," Nyko said.

"Lexa should not have left. The omega is her prize, no matter how difficult that prize may be," Indra griped.

"The omega is not being difficult. The omega is scared, just like every other omega that has been sent to us by Keryon. You know this. You have seen it before. That girl in there doesn't deserve our ire, she deserves our patience." Nyko looked at his wife.

Indra sighed. "And we all know one of the few things Lexa lacks is patience."

"That's not true and you know it. Honestly, I think she left so that she didn't make things worse. That girl is afraid of us, but she is especially frightened of Lexa." He lifted Indra's hand and kissed it. "You saw the girl. She's a scrawny little thing who has clearly been mistreated. She deserves our patience."

"You're right," Indra conceded.

"I am always right," Nyko teased but then got serious. "Why is it that all the omegas Keryon sends to us are mistreated? Is the Spirit saving them from something terrible by sending them to us?"

"These are questions we always ask ourselves but can never answer. Maybe if this one survives, she will tell us about where she comes from and clear up some of the mystery." It was something Indra hoped would happen. She let go of her houmon. "Let me go see what I can do, but don't blame me if I make things worse."

Indra carefully approached the guest room. The omega's bright blue eyes were already on her by the time she reached the door. She stayed in the doorway and let the omega look at her. She could see that the girl was trembling, and the sour scent of the omega's fear was unmistakable.
