Who would've known I slept for 12 hours just in time for me to get up for school the next day.
I hop into the shower as quick as possible and let the warm water hit the back of my neck and down my body.
It was quite soothing if you ask me.Steam swirling in the air. Hopefully it doesn't affect the fire alarms. Like it did at our our house back in Cali. I walk out of the bathroom feeling the cool air hit my skin and soaked hair. I walk over to my iPhone doc and turn on the theme song for the day.
"I don't fuck with you" I sing along with big Sean.
"Little stupid ass..." I trail off into the closest. Figuring out this whole first day out fit. I think about what I have in store for me today.A long confusing school day. My first day of cheer practice in person and not over Skype, at least I get one on one time with my captains to catch me up with things and actually get to know me.
I settled with a charcoal grey Nike sweatshirt, some ripped American eagle cropped skinny jeans with my white slip on vans. I have to look like I tried just a tad right. I grabbed some Nike pros And a T-shirt and my never used cheer shoes.
I throw my practice clothes in my old team gym bag. And got dressed. Letting my mess of wavy/ curly hair dry. I've learned to like it over the years of not caring.
I look over myself in the head to toe mirror I never noticed yesterday. I turn to the side. The look at my back. And then back forward again. "Wow My but looks good" I say with a smirk. Still studying my self.
"You are not gonna show people what you are worth...They will use you...this life you have must stay closed from your school life." I say giving myself a pep talk. A large beep came from this unknown speaker on the wall. I walk to it kind of confused by has it always been there. "Hello?" Speaking into it.
" Good morning honey! I have to go into the office today. but breakfast is on the table and I put your schedule and directions and everything you need for school along with your car keys." Mom says
"Alright, sounds good , have fun at work mom" I say thinking I must leave pretty soon too, Would be bad of me to be late on the first day.
"You have fun at school to honey, make friends, don't join any gangs...but I don't think you have any at your school...hopefully..anyway see you at dinner after practice." There is a long silence
"I love you Ava." Moms voice shakes.
"I love you too." with that I grab my bags along with my phone and head down stairs to the kitchen. Took me awhile to find but wow it was like it was Made for chefs.Speaking of chefs who is this person standing at the counter cutting up vegetables.
"Good morning Ms. Ava." His voice has a thick Spanish accent.
"Just call me Ava." I give a gentle smile.
"As you wish. Ava..." He says continuing to cut fruit next.I examine him. He is an older short Hispanic man. Bald of course. A little round. Meaning he must cook the best food.
"There on the table, Is a note which your mother left and a Greek omelet. Which of course I'll make something to your liking." He says out of no where.
"No that's great thank you..."
"Chef Sergio." He finishes, he smiles with his pearly whites.
"Thank you." I give back just the same.I walk over to the table and eat about half of the omelet feeling stuffed. I look at my new schedule.
First hour: History
Homeroom

After looking at the map of the school in pretty sure I figured out what stairs I should and shouldn't take. And the name of my teachers.
I grab my car keys and head to the garage to find my white Jeep Wrangler in one piece. I turn on the radio to the top 40s open the garage door and head out to this new school. Looking at the road in from of me I remind myself, this year won't be last year anymore.
