Rosalind

******

After being sucked into the mist, Ros was effectively stranded in Teyvat.

Luckily, she woke up in the forest with a clear view of the city of Mondstadt. Naturally, Rosalind decided that living there was her best chance at survival.

Mondstadt was a well-fortified city. Its inhabitants lived within towering walls of stone and had to pass through a pair of enormous iron gates to enter the city.

Rosalind stared at those gates for hours while she stayed near the outskirts of town. She stayed to observe the people who entered and left the city. It seemed like the best way to deduce whether or not the people of Mondstadt were friendly.  After her observations, Ros saw many different people easily enter and leave the city, in spite of its offputting gates and walls, so she deemed that it was safe to head inside and try to learn more about the city and the archaic, new world she had found herself in.

After entering the city, Rosalind's guess that Mondstadt was a secure and convenient place to live was proved to be true. Everyone in Mondstadt spoke English and wrote in a fashion similar to the English alphabet. For Ros, adapting to the Teyvatian writing system would be as simple as learning a child's code language. The only problem with living in Mondstadt was that it was impossible for Rosalind to avoid drawing attention to herself.

She was well aware that she looked completely different from everyone else. Upon first glance, it was clear that Mondstadt was an extremely homogeneous city. It was similar to the small rural towns of Ros' world.

In Mondstadt nearly everyone looked and acted alike.

Rosalind was noticeably out of place compared to the rest of the citizenry. And frankly, after the skydiving excursion that brought her to Teyvat, she looked so noticeably haggard and depraved that she was quickly spotted by the Knights of Favonius and promptly escorted to their headquarters.

At Headquarters, Rosalind met Jean and was told that she'd be allowed to live at the KOFH until she found a proper place to stay. Rosalind appreciated the offer, but she knew she could only mooch off the Knights for so long. Hospitably as they were, she suspected that they'd eventually kick her out if she overstayed her welcome. To prevent this, Ros made herself a promise. Within her first day of arriving in Mondstadt, she promised that her life would be different from the one she lead back on Earth.

She swore that she would learn how to become self-sufficient in the world of Teyvat. And that once she did, she would enjoy all the beauty and freedom that this world had to offer.

Within her first day, Ros deemed that learning how to read and write would be her first step to becoming a  functioning citizen of Mondstadt.

Rosalind knew that if she could read, she could use her new skills to research Teyvat and its culture. From there, she could hopefully land a job and start leading a better life.

Luckily for Ros, learning to read and write proved to be easy. As it so happened the Headquarters that she called home also was home to an extensive library. Through her readings and observations, Rosalind learned that the nation of Mondstadt was basically a modified feudal society.

She discovered that throughout Mondstadt's history, there were knights who served kings, queens, and a hefty sum of aristocrats.  At some point, however, the bourgeoisie became corrupted and treated the lower citizenry callously. The citizens soon rebelled against the tyranny of the upper class to break away from their maltreatment. From this rebellion, a new group, the Knights of Favonius rose up and defeated the nobles that once aimed to take advantage of the general populace.
